Writing 101. No matter if you are doing an anti-hero like Walter White or a traditional hero, from the very beginning your hero has to be likeable. If your hero isn't likeable no one will go with them on the journey. There are so many other things wrong with the writing but that one is the the kiss of death.

The actor who plays Wesker is the only one lifting the series. He had a lot of well made moments except that the one blade scene 😐
@aggtownmedia98442 жыл бұрын
Yea dude. That blade scene took me OUT. But the breadsticks scene is probably my favorite scene in any show this year lol

It was just mind bogglingly insulting to OG re fans, when they played Billie Eilish tunes and Dua Lipa in a Resident Evil Franchise. Like, who gave this a legitimate greenlight?!

I’d love to see a RE Resistance sort of plot. A group of strangers kidnapped by a madman, forced to work together to escape this dark and windy labyrinth chock full of creatures and puzzles or die and become one of the infected inhabitants. All while uncovering secrets about the place they’re trapped in as well as their captor. Plot twist; their captor is an Umbrella Agent/Scientist and they’re already infected and the whole ordeal is just a trial to see how the virus reacts to fear as a stimuli and it won’t matter even if they escape because they’ll end up spreading the virus. Could do like the game and sprinkle in legacy characters like Jill. Personally would love to see Claire. Maybe she’s investigating a lead on the test site and ends up caught up trying to rescue the people trapped, trying to help them get out. I’m a big fan of survival horror, it appeals to me way more than woke cw sassy drama If it was the writers’ intention to make Jade unlikable they succeeded cause I can’t stand her 14y/o self. I get she’s a teen and acts like a typical sassy teen. I don’t care for her adult self either. People make mistakes but the thing is she doesn’t learn from hers and other people end up paying the price while she plot armors on. Not a very compelling protagonist. :V

To be fair as someone who cancelled their Netflix sub I don't regret doing so given the fact that Netflix has been going down the path of uninspired, unmemorable adaptations. I did that a little before the Witcher season 2. I remember watching Castlevania and by the time I'd finished all the seasons(yes I watched all of it) it was evident to me that Netflix doesn't want to satisfy the fans of old classics by presenting them proper adaptations but rather attract a fresh audience. Don't get me wrong I respect their business strategy but they completely betrayed one of their biggest demographic - people who grew up with 90's early 00's anime and videogames. On top of that they constantly remove titles from their library and this is something that annoys me more than anything else. One thing that I can't deny though is that they have the rights to some very good anime series and movies from: Mappa, Polygon Pictures, Trigger etc that are really worth the watch. That however doesn't justify their lack of good cinema. You can't have "Black Hawk Down", "Training Day" and then 20 movies about superheroes in dumpy-diapers instead of more actual good movies. The ratio good to bad is too high for me to pay for the service.

I absolutely hate this show. I’m a huge fan of Re, it’s my favorite and I love horror. This show didn’t really have any horror feeling or tense situations because of the way it was written. Wesker was the absolute best part of the show I would like to hear him voice the character or play him again in the future, but nothing else was good. The monsters had like a combined screen time of like 15 minutes out of the whole 8 hours. And it completely failed at capturing the essence of what makes the games so good. Definitely feels like a totally different franchise with the RE name slapped on it. And by the end it looks like a cheap power ranger show

Honestly I thought it was really good, until I saw all the backlash now😭 Here’s how I feel about it: if you look at it as it’s own show rather than a re adaptation then it’s somewhat good, but if you’re a hardcore re fan then yeah... I don’t think you’re gonna like it

Dr Ian Malcolm is right once again. "Now, You will have actual Resident Evil in your Resident Evil adaptions, right? Hello? Anyone?". Nothing about this show was redeemable. This show is woke. Wesker being black isnt woke? Making dialogue about too many white people, despite seeing the diversity on display isnt a woke jab? Disrespectful kids just doing what ever they want mimicking tiktok culture isnt woke? Making comparisons to the lockdowns and Covid to the tvirus is also something they put in that wasnt even compelling. Could have left that out. So much I could say but I think I said enough. at this point I'd rather have an adaption from graphic novels Like Heavenly Island or the WildStorm comics but they may mess those up too. SD Perry books were fun reads but those took liberties too. Cant imagine killing off Rebecca in a live action setting.

Honestly, I had an open mind about it from the beginning. I think it was really good! I ended up binge-watching it in one day. KEEP IN MIND that it is its own thing. It had some “resident evil” stuff, but it was its own story. Plus, the producers already said early on that the show was going to be different, so I wasn’t surprised watching it. Overall I liked it. The show really picks up in episode 4 and onward. I think people should give it a chance. The season finale alone should get a season 2, it has the potential to grow. Yes, there should be someone to make a film/series dedicated to the game that is absolutely valid, but I appreciate the producers saying that this adaptation is not it. At least they were honest with it and not like other movies/shows where they claim the version is like the original and does not turn out to be.

I can respect that. Being able to shift your perspective and enjoy something for what it is is a great thing! 👍🏾 Most of the time I'm able to do that myself but the 12 year old kid in me has been waiting to see some semblance of the magic I experienced played out on the big screen. The tension, the horror, and atmosphere that we came to appreciate is never present and certainly is not here in the new series. We feel like our voices arent being heard. Like I mentioned in my review, if they had given this a title unrelated to Resident Evil we would have been ok with it. Most fans feel as though our beloved game series is being used for cash grabs instead of being celebrated for what truly made it unique. Thanks for your comment and perspective. To be honest, I'm glad that you were able to enjoy it. Resident Evil is a beautiful thing and their are plenty of treasures in its universe to enjoy. In my opinion, this just isn't one of them. Welcome to the channel, Sophie!

@@aggtownmedia9844 I definitely think what you are saying is valid. I also Think somewhere in the future somebody should make a movie/series that is super authentic to the games. As you Mentioned if they didn’t name this series resident evil it would’ve been OK too. They could’ve gone with a different title I know some people have actually said they don’t think the show plot is bad but they hate that it’s called resident evil. Which I also think is fair to say.

I feel ya. I think we both agree on some aspects of the show but it's just a term that I think is overused and I'd rather not throw it around at every instance that resembles it. I do believe representation matters but not if you're going to be completely tone def about it...like this show was.

This review sugar coats how bad the show was: it was garbage. Everyone except Wesker were dislikable characters, plot was confusing with the back and forth, and every conflict introduced to Jade to “overcome” was avoidable so the stakes are not as impactful. Don’t watch it. Just watch an actual dumpster fire it’s more entertaining.
