Spoilers for the series finale below Many people thought the ending was bad. Yeah, it sucked, but in the way that you feel betrayed, not because it was bad writing. The hints about the twist were given to us a lot, especially throughout the last few episodes. Josh is a loaner who states several times he doesn’t know how to lead. Everyone has always been drawn to Sam, she’s a beacon in the anarchy. Between them (from the red shirts perspective), why not have her be leader (other than the fact that she trusted Triumph and almost got everyone killed lol yikes). Josh was foolish to think Sam would say okay and run away with him. We even saw the day of the boom she was telling him not to say he loved her because he didn’t know her. What he should’ve admitted at the end is that he needed to find her to tell her he’s sorry for what he did, and that he wants to find out who she is. He’s partially to blame for our expectations of the outcome of his journey.
