it did seem to tease Journey to the West...but the only issue, he fought a bunch of JTTW opponents in this sequence - Hundred-Eyed Demon - Black Wind Demon - Azure Lion - Spider Demons - Scorpion Demoness - White Bone Demon and then there's the Bull Demon King, who's a sworn brother of Wukong in mythology

listen listen.... we never actually see bull demon king after he gets hit, and I've read that white bone demon had to be "killed" like 3 times in xiyouji..... so they could have just been Wasted and not actually dead....... and they can return in what I PRAY for that they make a sequel or animated series

Honestly they are fine since I’m pretty sure Bull Demon King got his head chopped off a few dozen times and the White Bone Spirit took a couple of tries to actually end her in the story of TJTTW

The writing of this movie sucked so much but oh mt god the love that went jnto the animation and designs ❤❤❤ The problem with it being a prequel to JTTW is that Monkey King wasnt allowed to grow as much as he shouldve. So it all felt like it was a circular character arc

not an expert in any way but I am learning abt them because of my fixation on this movie! 0:13 one-horned demons from Haunted Forest - idk what they are but they were going to have a more prominent role as seen in concept art 0:15 Bull Demon King - based on a guardian of Hell called Ox-Head, also Red Girl's dad 0:27 Scorpion Demoness - had a more prominent role in a deleted scene, she's powerful enough to have stung Buddha one time 0:33 White Bone Spirit - an animated skeleton who can leave behind her human disguises as dead bodies 0:42 Nine-Headed Beast - the original master of Benbo & Babo! I don't know if that's canon to this movie 0:48 Spider Demon - a sister of seven and associated with Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord 0:52 Bear Mountain Lord or Black Wind Demon - there are two black bears in JTTW, though the latter uses a spear 0:55 pitchfork rat ? - there's one rat but she's Lady Earth Flow, a Golden Nosed Albino Rat Spirit. I don't think they're related so it could be a random demon inspired by her 0:56 Tuolong (Water Lizard Dragon) - a nephew of Dragon King, presumably 0:57 Azure Lion - or Lion-Lynx Demon, who is the steed of bodhisattva Manjusri 0:58 Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord - senior of the spider sisters

in terms of time no, 2D takes more (so it also takes more pay day for animators)

@@Husky92223 Everyone seems to think GOOD 3d of this level DOESN'T take just as much time and skill. Any time savers the computer provides for 3d exist for 2d nowadays, AND 3d requires rigging, simulation and lighting which racks up the cost. So much so that even IF the animation was being done slightly faster (which is rarer then you think) in 3d, it's stll gonna have 3 times the technical artists required. Trust me, stop motion and 2d even at it's highest quality is still the third the budget.

@@rhinuu045 As a 2d animator I agree: BUT 3d animation this good still costs 3 times as much because it takes just as much skill for the animator to pull off (everyone things animating in 3d is easier for some reason), AND you have the riggers, lighting and simulation to thing about. BAD 3d animation might be cheaper... but the 2d equivalent to THAT would be cheap 2d puppet rig animation which is even CHEAPER. Trust me look at the budgets of revent 2d or stop motion vs 3d, the first two are still way cheaper. NOW perhaps 2d animators that can animate at this level of skill are RARER right now, but that's just a matter of HAVING more projects that require this till animators get a chance to "Get gud".
