*adjusts glasses* Ahem. You see, Hollywood is too scared to try new things and so it just recycles the old minor successes with hopes that they will appeal to new audiences. The idea being new audiences haven't seen said old movies and therefore they can easily be tricked into seeing them as new. The flaw, of course, is that due to the insane number of lazy pop culture references to said movies and the rise of movie streaming services, those films never actually left the zeitgeist. Therefore, they will always feel dated, even to audiences who might have been too young to watch them the first time they came out. Basically, Hollywood is run by a bunch of uncreative executives.
