Naoki Urasawa and Mai Yoneyama. This is pure gold! I love it when artists genuinely come together and gleefully talk shop. It’s so inspirational! Like when Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima collaborated. Urusawa-san’s line art is so emotionally free and dynamic. Yoneyama-san’s line art is so precisely detailed and clean. IPluto’s story, characters, and art styles was terrific.

It’s perfectly in line with his style of storytelling. Monster is a perfect example of the fine details in a character’s face, posture etc telling a huge amount of the story. The dialogue is still brilliant, but it becomes the stitching that holds everything together rather than the centerpiece

Watching this two living legend at modern ART is a godly blessing for me
@JelloMeow119 ай бұрын
I am quite envious of how the artist was able to keep up their passion and drew every detail with every effort they had. unlike me, my situation was different where I was required to forget that passion in order to survive the life though it feels like I was forced to forget that dream because there are a lot of opportunities better than that and it needs sacrifice where you eventually give it up for just because of how unfortunate my situation is. even now I still long for it but the passion isn't there anymore. I was hoping to bring it back even though it might take a lot of years again because I already started before even though it's only midway.
@NarumyNatsue Жыл бұрын
As an artist myself too, I teared up a little bit at the end. The passion and love to draw and to be a storyteller is so much fun, I always enjoy watching other people having fun while drawing, and they had great smiles on their faces. I came across Urasawa's work at a vulnerable time in my life and his love of life itself and art inspired me a lot. It's incredible to be able to see him converse with Yoneyama, another artist I have admired for some years. Her attention to detail is exquisite... Late to this but if anyone hasn't please check out Urasawa-sensei's other show "Urasawa Manben" (Urasawa Naoki no Manben), I think his work is very good in how it highlights many of the veterans in the industry and give them a platform to talk. It's a very informative show and it's easy for foreign viewers to see how much good artist/authors they missed out on just by sticking to only current mainstream series. Yoneyama-sensei is pretty much considered a pinnacle for many aspiring illustrators, but unfortunately, she is not as well-known in the west because most of her work are contained in Japan and in areas where there's not much of a reason to advertise outside of it. I'm glad more are learning about her and her work being recognized. She's very well known for her workflow and also use of lighting and color theory that makes her composition stand out. Urasawa is of the old cloth in the manga industry, a true veteran that uses his platform to spotlight many creatives in the field that deserves it.
