@@eagle3676 the problem are not the individual politicans. The problem is the underlying system. A electoral system that allows them to decide about things like gerrymandering will lose trust over time. Trump lost the popular vote by a margin of 2,1%. When a administration just can decide not to do things it loses legitimacy. As long as people have food and shelter they will not revolt but a society can still fall to dust over time in small steps.

Truman can never speak of civilized behavior. Nor should he ever be looked at as a beacon of inspiration for anything ever. @@sethmaule The second was unnecessary, I agree, however the Japanese culture of the time was that the most dishonorable thing one could do was surrender, and throughout the conquered islands they fought to the last man. Harry Truman looked at the moral calculus and determined that widespread and horrific destruction was the only way to end the war and prevent more deaths. I still go back and forth on this issue quite a bit, as to what the moral option would have been, and I definitely understand where you're coming from, I just want to relay that the issue is not as cut-and-dry as it first appears. Also, as a quick aside, while the deaths are certainly horrific, they are not slow, like you suggest, while the radiation would slowly kill someone, the heat would near-instantly kill someone.

I've been working at the first refugee camp mentioned since 2018. It has only gotten worse. The US has only granted asylum to 2 people since the beginning of March...2 people! With COVID 19 here we have been scrambling to move from emergency aid to developmental aid but it's impossible. We can't get people into homes because there's no jobs for people, and the US has shut down the courts. I have friends here who have been here over a year and and there court dates are being set back until September, and they will be reset again. Asylum is dead. This administration has succeeded in killing it. We are expecting COVID to hot any day now and the local hospitals are already over run. There are people in these photos that I recognize that are still here. We have done everything in our power to make things better,we have 50 portapotties, clothes washing stations, drinking water, doctors on staff, 88 hand sinks and tons of new measures to deal with COVID 19, but we're putting lipstick non a pig. Refugee camps are not acceptable, they should not exist in the first place. 2 people have made it since....2 out of 3500, let that sink in, this never never stopped. Thank you Hasan Minhaj for highlighting this, it shouldn't be your job as a comedian but you have done more than every mainstream media outlet I've seen to speak truth to power. @@flaviadaysvlogs4350 it is cruel, that is why I pointed it out. They already went through an ordeal just to make it to the border and now they have to wait another 9 months on top of that, and that processing time can even be used as justification to deny them further.

@IMxYOURxDADDY bro fuck off. they are literally escaping dangerous circumstances that would make your sheltered ass shit your pants if you were put in their shoes. you can't write them all off as freeloaders, the majority of them just want to escape violence. you lack empathy, you are a disgusting human being. oh well, though, because it looks like biden is our president now. fuck trump, i never want to see his evil ass as a political figure again.
