I understand that the writers might wanted to challenge their relationship in this season so we can see how Nancy is challenging to accept Steve's change(because let's be honest the guy has shifted character). However, Jonathan had always been there for her. All three of them were students in the first 2 seasons who managed to express themselves and stop hiding behind a mask because of peer pressure. They all changed. Especially Steve. But Jonathan was the one who met Nancy in a difficult moment(Barbs death) and helped her accept her inner self and start her own journey. He was there for her, respected her by speaking truth to her about his impression of her, just like she did whe she called him freak. When Steve broke his camera was understandable but that was Jonathans way to hide, just like steve who was trying to be the alpha rich guy of a group of idiots and nancy her girlfriend and part of the popular kids. In that way, Jonathans help led nancy to help Steve in her way by breaking up with him.I understand that they are attracted to each other, but Nancy spent most of her time with Jonathan and grew with Jonathan. Jonathan had always been protective like Steve (but Steve didn't care about his people until Nancys break up when he realized that he actually cares about her /that was a big step).Jonathan had been the man of the house, a protective brother and a shy loner. In s4 was still a protective grown up but they just didn't handle it that good and he seemed weak the whole season. That gave space to stancy. I mean I get it but it is not necessary to happen. It is necessary to have a fight as a normal couple but they lie to each other because they love each other and respect each other's future and careers. In s5 they need to talk open and serious about their future in college and their motives and clear their misunderstandings.

I agree with this, but one thing I will say if they're reopening the love triangle again, they can't have it where Nancy breaks Steve's heart again to go back to jonathan. Because they've done that storyline, and everyone moved on. So if stancy isn't endgame I think they're leaving it in a way which Nancy decides to not be with either or one of the 3 may die and I think Steve is the safest. I'm curious how this will play out, I just hope they don't repeat Steve's heartbreak storyline again. Imo I do think all 3 will remain separate. No ship wins, they remain friends and its a happy ending for jancy and stancy fans, kinda.

How can people say that their reconnection is forced or rushed? They know each other for a long time, they were a couple and the first love of each other ( you will never forget your first love!) And even though they didn't exactly shared a scene together in S3, there were many hints of Stancy. For example when Steve tried so hard to date other girls, but he couldn't get involved with them. Also Robin was supposed to distract him a bit and made him laugh, when he needed it the most after the break up. Meanwhile the scene, where they talked about Nancy was included for a reason. Nancy was the big topic after all. Then at the end of S3 Steve risked his life to save Nancy in the first place. Now in S4 Steve and Nancy approached SLOWLY. They shared closeness together in a temperate way. Neither they kissed nor Nancy talked about her feelings. It was an open end.
