Bacon Boots On the other hand, Diane and Bojack, respectively, did some of the best things for eachother. Diane helped get Bojack into rehab, which he desperately needed, and Bojack helped her start her journey to her new self with that visit. They genuinely care for each other. And that’s what made the 2nd to last episode’s voicemail so much worse. They both have a long while to live, presumably, and while it is Diane’s decision to let it go and keep him in her life, or cut him off, she has to know she has a friend in him. Diane is one of the few characters that really take life seriously and she expresses that in her words. She is the opposite of comical relief. She is a serious character that brings us and Bojack back to reality. Her contemplations and thoughts can become one-sided and it makes us feel like we don't want her on the screen. I like the fact that they pointed out how charitable philanthropistic people who have their names on things or tend to make a spectacle of their generous acts are usually just looking to make themselves look good and make it all about themselves. It's never really about the people they're being charitable to because if it was they wouldn't ask for the publicity. That's what bugs me about people who say they are philanthropic charitable humanitarians and just act as if it's some kind of medal or it makes them a superhero and they want everybody to know they are "generous and caring". I've seen people be kind and do amazing acts for others without saying they are a kind and charitable person and don't desire publicity or some kind of reward for it. I have not been apart of the Bojack fandom, just because I’ve always figured it’d be like the Rick and Morty fandom, but it’s not. Anyway, I had no idea that people hated Diane. Any Diane haters want to talk about it? I’m super down to hear different opinions now that the show has ended.
@favourowolabi5694 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say hate per say, but I just don’t like the fact that she was “holier than thou” she thought all her opinions were right, the fact that she tore down Bojack in her book and tried to make excuses... She knew Bojack liked her but kept stringing him along then gets mad at him for making a move. She lied to her husband about where she was for months! (I don’t like mr. pb either but that’s not okay to do period.) I thought she was selfish like everyone had problems and trauma which the show highlights but she wanted to seem like her problems were the only thing that mattered. She wasn’t empathetic to other people at all and that’s the main thing I felt like didn’t sit right with me.
@insquadwetrust54194 жыл бұрын
Favour Owolabi I cant definitely see all of that. For me, I’ve been against Bojack since season two and when Diane was an “antagonist” against him it was... kind of satisfying. But I can agree that she’s not at all a good person, to me she was only the lesser of two evils.
@vincentzhang13594 жыл бұрын
I think a large portion of the hate (not all of it) is based off people thinking she is whiny, ingrateful, etc, which I think is unjustified. Some people seem very willing to hold Diane too a higher standard that they hold none of the other characters up to, and I feel like a lot of times they forget that she is also damaged, her family never showed her any love as a child. As for the empathy thing, I think that relates to when Bojack and Diane met Cuddlywhiskers, and he told them something like "Only when you've given everything up can you truly find a way to be happy", and Diane calls him selfish, but he tells her that he's happy. I think for most of the rest of the show, Diane is trying to make herself happy, and it can be selfish but I never really felt it was that bad. The consistent thing I find is that basically anyone who related to Diane didn't hate her, or only hated her because of how they related to her. (this is just my thoughts based off what I've seen and read, feel free to tell me that I'm wrong)

As someone who entered the show out of curiosity, I never saw Diane as the voice of reason, nor the 'holier than you" character. So it was a surprise people called her hypocritical. She's just a flawed human, even I act sometimes like Diane, and the reason I try to give good advice is just so maybe I could do what I know is best for me and what I think it may help others. Obviously is not a good action, but I'm working on it. She's just a person who wants to make sense of this world and tries her best to help herself and maybe help other, the flaw is that sometimes no one asked.
@minimalisticbits12324 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's just me, but I didn't like how she was represented in this video. The full story would include some of her deeper emotional moments that aren't just connected to relationships and the ones that got included aren't even the best ones.

Diana supposed to represent who we truly are. She supposed to represent the fact that even though we feel that we are the main character of our own story and reality we’re probably a side character in someone else’s story and even going through our own journey and even though it’s A hard and hurtful journey, we are truly just a side character. But Dina supposed to represent that we don’t have to stay a side character. that we can actually make what the main story was originally about revolve at least 80% around us. And in the end that’s truly what the story turned into. It went from just a horse who was a drug addict getting over his has been era in the 90s into a deep dive about the people around him, going through an existential crisis, to go into a midlife crisis, to try to find ones own personal identity, to even maybe thinking that we don’t even have an identity to a whole bunch of other stuff, Diane made me realize that even though we’re a side character we can still be the hero of our own stories.

Bojack makes people feel good about accepting that they are damaged. Diane doesn't accept that, sure she's damaged, sure she knows it, but she doesn't accept it. She tries to change she tries to grow. She fails alot but she's constantly trying. She calls out bojack for not changing especially towards the last few seasons To me alot of the hate for diane is because she makes the people unwilling to change uncomfortable.

I love that it didn't turn into a will-they-wont-they...Ross and Rachel situation, with BoJack and Diane. Their friendship is up and down, and they seem to completely understand each other. @@userales It's not even about Diane. The story was set in a literal war zone and even if the creators did touch some subjects, it felt like something was missing about the actual war taking place, or that Diane was gone too quickly even after she told S. Claire she'd stay.
@ges49724 жыл бұрын
I think that was the point, Diane thought she could be in cordovia, write about Sinclair, and make a huge difference in that country. But Diane couldn’t do it, she couldn’t focus on the big picture, she got to attached to individuals and the amount of horror there was something she couldn’t handle. I think it brought a lot to Diane’s character and to the show and what it is truly about.

No matter how many excuses you make the first episode was bad, season 1 went from a 5 to a 6.9 but onwards it was great. It's really hard to suggest people this show when they saw the first episode and felt like it was one of the shows that went with the same route of family guy of pointless cutaways. I wish they had edited atleast the first episode to make sure people could suggest it. What I did was tell my friend to watch the show while doing something and by season 2 he will not be able to stop watching because it gets good.
@TheJavapup4 жыл бұрын
That was planned. it's supposed to look like family guy, build the world up, and then hit you on the head with depression.
@sirdragonmoon70924 жыл бұрын
@@TheJavapup why, so many people I know stoped watching it after that first episode, it wasn't funny, edgy, or smart enough. The first episode I dare to say it's the worst episode in the entire series. For a show that understood that as a part of the content they presented, like for example with the bojack horseman show, they had to do a great first episode. And they had many seasons to fix that. They changed and improved but they really should have edited the first episode so that more people were invited to appriciating it, cause saying it was meant to be bad its just making excuses.
