Her story was as sad as Diana’s in my opinion. She was mistreated and misunderstood. They made her choose between her love and title, a decision that she regretted for the rest of her life. Not to mention that she was butchered by the press as well. And then she died at a hospital at 71, crippled and half-blind as a result of strokes. Her life was truly a tragedy. 🥀

@@katewilliams4013That was an unnecessarily long response, which basically shows that you are perhaps a person with no purpose in her life, and a lot of time on her hands apparently, which makes you write five paragraphs in response to a simple piece of opinion which wasn’t even directed at you. That’s sad! You talk about the freedom of press and speech, yet here you are, lecturing me about how I should think or speak. Not to mention that you don’t even know me. For your information, I just don’t watch TV series. I have read books about these people. They all had flaws and were imperfect (Diana and Margaret included), yet being a royal doesn’t make you immune to misery and sadness. Plus, as a person who claims has read books about these people, you should have known that Diana never married Dodi Fayed, the guy whom you referred to by his race/ethnicity rather than his name. That was a great opening of a new episode with a fabulous David Bowie track and cute but funniest of dance moves by Tom Burke and Helena Bonham Carter. Simply a remarkable, unforgettable scene.🤩👏🏼

@@ririschannelx Really..? Never knew that before, that’s quite interesting actually as Bowie songs were also featured a couple of times before in the previous episodes of The Crown. Thank you for the info.😃👍🏼

Princess Margaret to me shall and always will be Helena's. Helena gave her everything a great personality, she had her ups and downs, moments when all you wanted to do was jump into the screen and give her a hug and tell everything was going to be alright, but above all else she made Margaret relatable for the viewers. Helena you shall be greatly missed. Such a beautiful actress to go with an equal as beautiful character within herself.

‘Apparently the healing can not start until grandiosity is diminished.’ - I never noticed this line in The Crown before. It’s in the book I am reading ‘Drama of the Gifted Child’. Narcissist rarely seek recovery because they blame everyone else for their issues. Margaret as she is written in The Crown is very high on narcissism spectrum. As are both Princes of Wales.

Are they talking about Megan or Diana or Margaret??..it seems in this family..there is a systematic oppression of your personality and feelings.. you live for the crown, for the pageantry, the protocols..yes, a life full of priviledges but you do not own your life if you cannot fit it within the rules and restrictions...

Yes. It is a duty, not a privilege.

Princess Margaret should have been sent to a boot camp every ten years. She never realised just how privileged she was, even as the second born
@jimanderson58832 жыл бұрын
I feel no sympathy for Margaret. She had privilege, power, and wealth to carve out any role she desired. Think about all the "common" people with the same problems who did not have the opportunities she possessed. She spent most of her time whining about being the second born and being rude to others.

So, George V had David, George VI had Margaret, Elizabeth II had Charles, Charles had Harry: all misfits of the royal family. I wonder who will be the misfit in William's family? Will he/she be treated as an individual, or crushed by the royal steamroller like the others?

I love Helena Bonham Carter. Love the show really got to showcase her acting chops. But please ppl. Dont act like Princess Margret and Peter Townsend were two star crossed lovers. He was 16 years older than she was. When he proposed she was only 22 (making him 36). And he worked for her dad when she was 13. I dont know where you are from but where im at its called grooming (Allgedly, allegedly they hooked up when she was just 17). He ended up at 45 marrying a 20 yo. Hes not her greatest love; he is a predator. Can we please make that super clear?

She visited the small mining town I grew up in , in Australia in 1973. She was pissed the whole time she was there ... drank the bar dry in her hotel suite , woke my Father up at 2am so he could open the local liquor store open ... needless to say , she was late that morning and wore sunglasses all day lol

I love how they established her as a kind of auntie figure in the family. Auntie Margaret, you know that kind of funny, likes to drink and smoke, everybody has someone like that in their family. Helena Bonham Carter fitted that role immensely.

People don't realise that being a royal is not freedom, its not all fub and living in wealth. It can be lonely , controlling, depressing and unfulling. And this is for all royals or at least most of them around the world. Loved Helenas portrayal.
