@@myquietreviews honestly, I recommend tp-link more. I ended up buying a new tp-link 4400 wifi6 after I read all the nighthawk Wi-Fi/Ethernet crashing issues. My nighthawk also had those issues, but was used too, 🤷‍♂️

@@Slim1423 the TP-link was better than the one given by ISPs, buuuut i no longer use it. I had a kid living with me and their mom, parental controls were a nightmare. No way to clear the cache of any IP EVER added/connected to it. (Cox had issues on their end, constant resets made this list hella long lol) and according to articles and TP themselves, nothing i could do to clean that up.. also, mine was missing a little rubber foot, so it wobbled, no impact on performance, just impact on my OCD lol. I used Cox's gateway thing and put it in bridge mode for this config.. I ended up going with NightHawk router and modem config (Newest modem standard and router, one from walmart other from bestbuy (inventory based)), LOVED the 2 units paired together. After initial setup, the only issues I EVER have is from the ISP before service enters my home. Im also a heavy gamer, between playing and downloading new ones, nighthawk was a set-and-forget experience with the capacity for ALOT of traffic at once :) i switched to verizon 5g home internet, not bad for the price, regret the service quality reduction, will be switching back to Cox in the coming months...also can't use your own equipment with verizon (have to use their modem/router thing)

I'm having issues setting mines up my network doesn't show up at all I put the network name and everything and nothing happens so I can't get it hooked up cause on the wifi I does not appear 😦

Mine started rebooting itself over and over about a year into use. Doesn't matter what firmware. I drilled holes in the front and added a case fan as a last ditch effort. Still does it so I'm searching for a cheap replacement. I've just ordered a cheap Wifi 6 router. The Rock Space AX1800. Hopefully it has good range, as that was my favorite feature of the r7000. It never had any 5g speed degradation for my use case at all.

I set it up but it didn't connect to the internet ,but my internet is running , I connected it direct to my sys and I had internet, so back to Walmonts it goes , it's a pic of junk.

Tp-link is better. You need to do the right reboot order for the nighthawk to work…nighthawks also constantly crash and lose connection requiring reboots in most cases

Im planning to get a netgear and have a couple questions. Does Netgear need a modem to work or does it work as soon you connect the coax cable from the wall to the netgear will it work? Do you have to pay monthly like Xfinity for example? Im new to this and hopefully find an answer to this

You need a modem (usually from your internet provider) along with service.

Question.. I’m not big on knowing what internet is other than just a bill and basic speeds from spectrum lol. Do this router need a separate internet provider ? I can use this internet even when I’m at the park or something ?

This router is not for mobile internet. You can access your home network remotely, but you would need a connection where you’re at first, like your cellphones internet, or a coffee shop etc. (most people don’t need remote access to the home network, unless you need a word document on your home computer or whatever while away from home) This does not need an additional provider, but calling spectrum to guide you in setup is recommended. Normally the provider gives you a box that does Wi-Fi (that’s what a router does essentially) and it’s settings would need to be changed to add this to your system, assuming average intentions are the question and nothing “special”. This would generally be better Wi-Fi than what most providers give to their customers, assuming you have basic services.

Have you heard of nighthawk app stopped working? My remote access with the app all of a sudden can’t find my router anymore. It connects to it fine when I am local but as soon as I go mobile it can’t find the router anymore even though the router is working fine and everything is set up the same as it always has been for remote access

Hotspot? I don’t believe so, but a call to nighthawks customer service would confirm if it does or not. Nighthawk sells a mobile unit that does work with SIM cards

That’s a known issues. You have to downgrade the firmware. Version V1.0.9.42_10.2.44 is stable

If you have a Wi-Fi modem, and want this to do the Wi-Fi, yes. You will need to put the modem/Wi-Fi unit into “bridge mode” that turns its Wi-Fi off to allow the router to do it, run an Ethernet cable from modem to new router, and continue setup process.

@@tigerman1376, well honestly you can use this router to replace the one you get from your internet company and get way better speeds. We have Charter Spectrum at the house the equipment they gave us had us barely ay 40mbps. Now we hitting 120- 140.

Do not buy this garbage. I cannot stress to you enough how much I want you to not buy netgear garbage. You will do nothing but deal with outages and hard reboots. They'll tell you to upgrade your firmware, your bios, change your power supply, get a universal power supply... I will never buy another piece of Netgear garbage again. Please please please learn from my misery. EDIT: I recently purchased a Synology RT2600ac and have had none of the issues I previously had with the Netgear. It's been rock steady. There's usually 8-12 devices attached to it at a time and it handles all with no problem. And I'm always down with an interface that automatically sees your firmware is out of date and asks you to update with a mouse click. Thank you. 🙏

@@alinamik1838 I grabbed a Synology RT2600ac. It just arrived a week ago, and I can happily report a 100% better user experience already. The interface recognized that the firmware was out of date and downloaded/upgraded it with the click of a mouse, and I haven't had the constant interruptions and re-boots at all. will readily update if this one suddenly goes south on me, but if all remains as is I am a very happy user.
