Great content! I want to move to the Netherlands, but I'm feeling very discouraged because of the housing. I lived in Den Bosch for 6 months, thanks to the Erasmus programme and I enjoyed my stay a lot! Now I'm currently working as software engineer in Italy to save some money to move there >< What do you think I should do? Move there while working for my company and register there as non-resident [to find a job] so that I can economically support my stay OR quit the job, move in the Netherlands and find another job? I feel so torn... Thanks a lot :) keep goin!

Hi there and thanks for leaving a comment! :) well, we can see that it’s a tough choice to make haha. By the time you come here and register yourself, I think you have around 3 months to keep your status as non-resident, so do keep that in mind! Also, make sure to make a booking at the local municipality for this way in advance, as they are kinda fully booked for months 😅. Anyway, we think that the best thing to do would be to keep your job while living here (if you can do that ofc). It’s just an extra assurance that you need, because it’s kind of difficult to find jobs here as well, speaking from experience! Is there no way to keep staying in Italy until you find something? Dutch people are really flexible, and I’m sure you’ll be able to have online interviews:) Whatever you do, we wish you good luck and hopefully it’ll all work out for the best :)

It's understood. But first is first. You should buy the real 'Bossche Bol' at the pastry bakery ' Jan de Groot' in front of the Central Station 's-Hertogenbosch and after that you should think about ... what's more important in life? Just enjoy your second Bossche Bol!! - Bossche Bol!

Thanks for the info!!! How much does it help if we hire a real estate agency to help us find a place (which typically costs one months rent)?

Hi! Thanks for watching our video! :) Well, it depends on your financial situation! If you believe that it won’t be a problem for you to spend one month’s rent and avoid the hassle, then you should definitely try this! If you have a higher budget, for example 1.8k+, then it might be easier to find an apartment yourself. But that means that long term, you’ll spend quite a lot. We would have definitely tried to get some help from an agency back then, but we were just fresh graduates, so we didn’t have a lot to spend haha.

Interesting video 🤩 Could you please tell me if you came with a job in The Netherlands, or you search for it when you arrived?

Hi there! Well, one of us came with a job here and the other person found one after we got here 😊 Since it’s kind of expensive to rent a place here, I would recommend trying to find a job before! However, if you can afford to stay here for a couple of months to search for a place to work, then it should be ok! It takes a while to find a job here

Not true, there is lots of space. The housing crises is a creation of governments, especially the provincial governments which are responsible for making plans where housing can be, where industry, schools, shops, sports facilities etc. And the provincial governments don’t want towns to get any bigger, they only want cities to grow bigger. The result is the housing crises. It could be solved in a decade, but left parties are against towns building houses on agricultural land outside buildup areas, at least in my province that’s the case.
