It's just a weird city, it feels more German than Dutch it feels like Frankfurt, badly planned and designed with noticeable lack of native Dutch people, it's the most unfriendly and hostile city in the Netherlands,

Ok but as far as spending the money, that's the whole deal with local governments. They don't want to spend proper money on proper infrastructure for bike riding when they don't see the numbers. They know more people would ride places if there were better public facilities paths, etc., but they just don't care about that, and they don't want to be accused of wasteful spending. Besides if property taxes went up no one would be happy about it, unless they cut back on other things, which indeed they ought to. In ten years my personal property taxes went up by a fourth, which is ridicules and is based on wasteful spending. Of course I totally want to see intelligent improvements in the bike provisions around where I live, and I think much of what could be done would be done if there was any forethought connected to maintaining the local roads and streets around here. But there isn't. They do repaving and make improvements, add lanes, or change the surface without it being improved, but it's practically never that they make or do anything related to bike use. And never with any meaningful element for safety. It's just posturing and white lines. I'm sure plenty of other places in America are like this and by the same token, probably Europe, the same as Britian, almost always have it better.

Nowhere is like the Netherlands, I live in Germany and travelled all over Europe, Copenhagen has the next best bike system and it's absolutely trash in comparison, The Dutch bike network might be partly made up of local projects but it's all national projects, this isn't just cycling within a town, They have cycle highways that stretch across the country, You can get on your bike in Amsterdam and cycle all the way to the German / Belgian border almost all the way without leaving the cycle path I am in no way a cyclist evangelist I cant stand the twats, but I can fully get behind this it's clearly worth the investment, I have been all over the Netherlands I seriously have thing for how they live They have Scottish weather and German paperwork

That`s treu. but the dutch government made the calculation and it turns out they can make more money when people use bikes.
@shugthehornyhaggis21 күн бұрын
I know you just completely made that fact up and pulled it from your bum, the Netherlands invests more in road networks and motorways than any other European country per person it's not just cycling infrastructure it's everything they do combined that work's

@markknoop6283 every thing and I mean every thing you eat, drink, sit on, put on, walk on, ride on, literally every thing you wear put in your mouth or head for daily life, all got there with a truck or a van,and in some cases a car all of which pay rediculs amounts of road tax and fule tax, they also pay ridiculous amounts for parking to private companies that make billions in euros every year (q park) Trucks over 3.5 tun need to pay an additional toll tax to deliver all the goods you need for your life every day, It is fantastic you can take your shopping from Albert heijn home on your bakfiets, but how do you think the tuns of food, electronics and building materials get to there Bikes however pay no tax carry carry little cargo, and all of there infrastructure is paid for, by the people that need a vehicle which is still most households in the Netherlands, I get you live in this fantasy that the Netherlands is just bike But the Netherlands works this well because all of there infrastructure works seamlessly together, The rail and bus network is tied together and bikes are wonderful in a flat country for reducing congestion within towns and city's The Netherlands is constantly building new motorways or redesigning them to make them safer,

CCT cameras down in those bike undergrounds or not, I would surmise that the cops there in big cities like that with so many bikes around and bike ownership so high, might very well not take individual bike theft very seriously at all. Going into it I could see a complete non-interest in the possibility of it since, everyone has a bike so there's no need to steal. I could also see the cameras being either dummies, or totally unmonitored.

It takes a high trust society to achieve this, even cheap second hand bikes in nl are 200 euros, where this is filmed is 40 km from the German border The Dutch police are strict but super fair, I have never had a bad experience with the Dutch police

I am a stoner, and my vocabulary is fine. I assure you, these things are not related. Not unlike infrastructure, vocabulary is something you can build and improve over time, if you are willing to make a little investment.
@shugthehornyhaggis21 күн бұрын
My vocabulary is shrinking because I don't speak English with anyone other than my wife, and since she's German and I'm learning German we swap a lot of words out for German words, now when I try and find the English word I don't remember it, also because I'm not speaking Scots with any one I'm losing my own Scots languages, so rather than saying something Scottish that's harsh but comes across as light i just say F uck and C unt loads, it's not classy or cool I'm going to be putting up medical cannabis videos soon

Highways around my area ( Greater London) built dedicated cycle lanes. Thousands spent, major disruption. Do they ( cyclists) use it? Course not. Rather cycle on the road, holding everybody up knowing they've the full protection of the law.
