It's soooo so fun to see the Netherlands through a tourist' eyes. I am Dutch (from Delft) and I have been a tourist many times in other countries, love to be in new places, getting surprised by all the beauty and difference. I've been disappointed that I can't be a tourist in the Nederlands, not _really_ but have often tried to imagine what it would be like to be a tourist in the Netherlands. These video's give me that feeling! Like seeing it all through fresh eyes!

I just want to say the Netherlands are beautiful with its sights, amazing architecture, kindly people, delicious food. Amsterdam, Sneek, Eindhoven, Zoetermeer, Den Haag, Ijmuiden, Venray, Doetinchem, Roermond, Bussum, Zwolle, Nieuwegein, Utrecht, Bergen op Zoom, Gouda, Amstelveen, Terneuzen, Rotterdam. I have no words to describe my feelings after visiting this beautiful Country!🥰

I think the maker is confusing the Randstad with 'the Netherlands'. With the exception of Maastricht, all the cities in the list are in the Randstad. Where are... 's-Hertogenbosch (Culture and museum city of the south, with Painters like Jheronimus Bosch and Van Gogh), Bergen op Zoom (The oldest city palace with a beautiful historic city, The Main Harbourcity of the Netherlands before the Eighty Years' War ), Zwolle (Hanze walled city with a unique museum and the glass angel), Breda (The Royal Nassau city of the Netherlands), Deventer (with one of the most beautiful squares in the Netherlands), Valkenburg (historic tourist city in the south), Helmond (bustling city where both history and Modern intersect, Cube Houses and Castles), Eindhoven (The Design City and City of Light of the Netherlands, with Van Gogh Monuments in the hinterland)

Your videos have been a great help on learning about places I may want to move to from the US with my partner. You seem to value very much of what we would value in a place to spend time. 101st Airborne landed near Eindhoven, 82nd Airborne landed near Nijmegen. I would think these would be worthwhile destinations for an American. The 82nd actually landed some distance away near the town of Groesbeek. From hindsight it was of one the contributing factors that Market Garden failed, it was not because of lack of heroism of the soldiers of the 82nd. They fought their way all the way to the Nijmegen bridge and did a flanking maneuver by crossing the Waal river. The area where they first landed is still called 'Little America'. Kind regards and thanks for your videos.

@@denniscallan den bosch == 's hertogenbosch (just like den haag == 's gravenhage) you can cross off one there. i don't know any swollen, probably a phonetic form of "zwolle" another one you can cross off i can only speak for arnhem, breda, den bosh, deventer, dordrecht, groning and kinderdijk, never visited the other places except for passing through nijmegen: never been there, but it is the oldest city with city rights iirc, so i guess it's a keeper for historical purposes. muiderslot: idem dito, but extremely old dutch history and a pretty sight to behold the old keep. arnhem: legendary from world war 2, another historical landmark, played a gig there with my band like 15 years ago, friendly folk, nice city to stroll through with little shops everywhere (at the time) deventer: has a big old square with a church on it, and a big old kettle from back in the middle ages where they used to boil witches in, pretty grim shit, got a lot of modern shit mixed in too, prett good night life, nice town to have a beer. anyway, the southeastern parts of the country are the most influenced by catholicism and have their construction style, big old squares, with big old catherdrals groningen: very lively city with tons of students keeping it going. leeuwarden and middelburg may be nice there's actually a night train going all the way from vlissingen by the hour (with middelburg just a stop before) that goes through amsterdam, so you could pick those up along the way whilst catching some sleep :P i would suggest texel too, the biggest island we have, you could cover some den helder (the city from where the boat to the island goes, has the navy headquarters too) and a bit of the "waddenzee" maybe while you're at it, we even have seals over there, when you look north from texel, you can almost see the end of the world from there lol. nothing but sea. kinderdijk with the little mills and the high up polders is kind of bread and butter dutch shit, kinda like lisse and the keukenhof :D personally not all that blown away by dordrecht. breda is nice, tilburg isn't half bad either, but a fucking maze to navagate by bike, eindhoven is cool too. they're all in the vicinity.

@@denniscallan My favourites out of these cities are: Arnhem, Nijmegen, Den Bosch, Zutphen, Deventer and Zwolle. Zutphen, Deventer and Zwolle are the more well known dutch hanseatic cities with a great history. Especially Zutphen is underapreciated and has a beautiful historic city center. Arnhem is where I live and played a big role in the ending of WWII. A big part of the city was destroyed and rebuild over the years and it's fascinating to see the old and the new next to each other. Nijmegen has a history that goes as far back as the Roman Empire. Nijmegen was on the border of the roman empire. Nijmegen also has beautiful parks. Den Bosch is also a great city with beautiful historic buildings and canals (although the canals are more hidden than in cities like Amsterdam and Utrecht). The city centre feels to me very "gezellig" as we dutch people say.

If someone's reading this and thinking of doing a similar trip, I recommend visiting even more places if you're also going 3 weeks. Most of these cities aren't all that large and you can see pretty much all of it within a day or less usually. Because of this I'd recommend visiting some other towns and cities, since you'll be able to see most of them in a couple hours. I personally think it would be most interesting to visit some more cities in the east, like the historical cities of Nijmegen and Groningen. Edit: I would also recommend renting a bicycle. The biking infrastructure is great, there's virtually no hills, and it will allow you to get to many more places and see much more in a shorter time span.

There are more cities that are worth visiting but I didn't get there on this trip. I did spend a month traveling around to the cities in this video, and Amsterdam, and look forward to going back and seeing more.

Yes, thank you, gives me something to do next time. It is pretty hard to cover 40 towns in 16 minutes, but I am aware of them. The Dutch Tourism Office selected some additional cities that travelers often overlook, each a real hidden gem with a unique ambiance and charm: Amersfoort; Arnhem; Breda; Den Bosch; Eindhoven; Groningen ; Leeuwarden; Nijmegen; Hanzesteden; Zwolle. There are lots of other special towns to discover, such as: Apeldoorn; Deventer; Dokkum; Dordrecht; Edam; Enkhuizen; Hattem; ‘S Hertogenbosch; Hoorn; Houten; Kampen; Kinderdijk; Marken; Middelburg; Muiderslot; Ootmarsum; Schiedam; Sneek; Swollen; Thorn; Veere; Volendam; Zaandam; Zaanse Schans; Zierikzee; and Zutphen, SOME DAY.

Regarding the outdoor cafes/restaurants in your videos of the Netherlands....do you have to wait to be seated or can you just find an open table and wait for a server?

Very nice video, I lived in a few of these cities. Delft is my town now. Den Haag is a fun discussion at parties. Is it a city or not? They say it never got it's city rights, others say it did...I don't care as it's big we tend to see it as a city, but it's actually a village to some haha

En waarom geen Spakenburg? Een oud vissersdorp. Die op de Unesco lijst staat. In de buurt van Amersfoort, in provincie of Utrecht.

You can get drunk and eat and have fun, but Eindhoven is ugly. Not a good destination for tourists.

Belgium is also nice and next door, so you might consider including a few Belgian cities. I agree there is more to see in Netherlands, a bigger country with a dozen major destinations, very easy to get around by train.

How much does the train cost?
@hendrikbijloo2 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of options to get discounts, but just buying a ticket at the train station the setup fee is about 2 Euro and 20 eurocents per kilometer!
