Interesting that she has the same difference when singing in French that Sutherland had. Both of them seem freer; make the words more meaningful; and bring a great emotive sense of the aria than in most of their Italian work. Odd that this would be a shared characteristic between two such different singers.

Beautiful singing, but the trill is sorely missing, and it makes the difference in this aria. On the other hand, this is the kind of role that suits her voice like a glove. She should have stuck on more lyric rather than heavier dramatic roles as she is doing now.

She did a great job but I can tell she’s struggling a bit with it and her diction isn’t 100% clean, it has a Russian accent beneath it but the colors to her voice make it sounds very magical and pretty.

Her voice has always been a little thick for a really clean trill. It's the curse of a 'dark' lyric soprano when she ventures into coloratura repertoire ;)

Poor excuse. She simply is not discipline enough. We have for instance Fleming who has an even darker timbre and she has a solid very fast trill.

It's because she is a full lyrical soprano, her voice's characteristic is very thick, she can't run very fast like coloraturas soprano :) personally, I prefer her voice in Verdi's characters like Violetta, her voice is perfect for that role

C'est pas mal ,mais où est passé le trille final avant le contre Ut ? Bien sûr que de donner l'UT après le trille est difficile .Mais si Gounod l'a écrit ,il faut le chanter .Sinon on chante autre chose de plus facile ,et basta !
