This is why it’s dumb that regular artists and music labels don’t let people use their music in their content. A very high percentage of the people who are here are here because of twitch streamers - Punz, Sam, Sapnap etc. Streamers/content creators have the ability to blow up songs they like simply by playing them. Edit, since people keep misunderstanding me: I am not suggesting that mainstream music labels make their music free. I am suggesting they allow big streamers/content creators to play their music (within reason) and not be punished for it. Only twitch partners or verified youtubers would be eligible for it. If you really want to pirate a song without paying for it, it is very easy to do so already, and you can get it without a streamer talking over the top of it. Allowing streamers to use music would only promote it, it would not cause them to lose money. I’d also like to point out I’m not the only person with this view, I’ve heard several content creators mention it before as well. If you want examples, you can have the ones I gave someone earlier: Shivers has spread to a much wider audience than it would have reached if people didn’t associate it with their favourite streamers. TBJZL used to have a song called “I’m ready” for his intro and it spread the song to a wider audience. KSI basically gave someone a music career because he played get hyper in a video and people associated the song with him so they gave attention to the song. Heatwaves blew up because Dream and George joked about a fanfic named after the song. Glass animals already have a lot of fans and make a lot of money from selling their music to them, but heatwaves was spread to a much wider audience that it would not normally reach.
