1% of population are psychopathic. 3% sociopathic and 6% narcissistic. Those stats are from Andrew Bustamante. The reason psychopathy is higher in men is bc men were the warriors and hunters when we were living in nomadic tribes in East African savannas. Our brains haven't changed much since then. Females are less represented bc they need empathy to care for their offspring. Men being psychopathic/sociopathic helps repopulate the human specie bc they tend to be very promiscuous (Dr Kevin Dutton)

In the sense that psychopaths are known for accomplishing things the average person can’t pull off, it makes sense to wonder how a psychopath would interview another.

THANK YOU! I have had great success by weaving tests for empathy into conversations and situations. I use it in dating, work and friendship. The techniques you suggest to look for are techniques I've personally used, (ex...no pun intended...flipping the interview)...guess who taught me how to do that? My ex...who might be a psychopath. I started reading Hare after dating him so I wouldn't have it happen to me again. They destroy you. Thank you so much for posting this.

I was interviewed like this, diagnosed with anti social personality disorder and narcissistic personality disorder which the psych said was similar to being a psychopath. My question is how do you avoid jumping to conclusions based on what’s in their file. In many cases you know what happened or atleast a version of it. I feel like I was diagnosed before i even was evaluated. Are most of these diagnosis just basically based off the circumstances of the interview itself?

Look at Robert Hare’s work.
@Woodman-Spare-that-tree4 күн бұрын
You only have to watch a criminal trial (there are thousands of them on You Tube) or any of the True Crime channels, to see that no two psychiatrists or psychologists can agree on the same diagnosis for the same subject. So you should take every diagnosis with a huge pinch of salt.
@craiggalvin58934 күн бұрын
@ Yeah and that is typically because one is one the defendant or defense attorney sent them to see and you typically get a diagnosis that is more sympathetic, something like Bi-polar disorder. Then the other is “state approved” like was the case with mine there is no mistake that I was given a list of state approved psychs I had to choose from. Those typically go the way mine did, it’s easier to get a conviction on a “psychopath”. Than someone that is mentally ill. The system is pretty rigged

Thanks! interesting that interviewing techniques that work most often, sometimes don’t. very tricky. this can also be true of a “normal” person interview, of course. it’s just that people with difficult disorders can get dicey quickly. have a good day :) 🌷🌱

Not really. They are 2 dimensional. Once you have figured them out the mystique evaporates and you see them as wrecked and twisted basic creatures lacking depth and personality. A void where a person should be.

Great discussion. There are more sociopaths than psychopaths. Sociopaths may be more dangerous because they can put on a more deceiving personality than psychopaths. I suggest u read the book.....the sociopath next door. The author, a psychiatrist, has many years experience working and studying sociopaths. Sociopaths can put on airs to be more charming than psychopaths......We see many sociopaths taking positions of power in business, politics, etc.

@@anthonybarbuto6012 i really dont think thats an accurate conceptualization of what psychopathy or primary psychopath is. Ive watched interviews with primary and secondary psychopaths. I've seen psychopaths with good social skills and ive seen sociopaths with bad social skills. Making generalisations about people with this disorder can be dangerous as it can lead to people not recognising someone as a psychopath because of the assumption that usually psychopaths dont have the social skills sociopaths do

flattery to appease a malignant narcissist is a frivolous tactic . A quote from Alice Morgan, a character from the show LUther who is equal parts mathematical genius, psychopath and malignant narcisst. I once read that all psychopaths are malignatn narcs but not vice versa.

Is the context of this interview consensual? If not, could that lower the respect the interviewee has for the interviewer? How would an average person treat an interviewer if they don't have a lot of respect for them?

Are you psychopathic or sociopathic? There is hope and you can change. Having insight into yourself is absolutely the 1st step. A therapist who specialises in this area will help you work through it and assist with any destructive behaviours. You can 100% be a successful, contributing member of society. Dr Kevin Dutton states that the following professions have the most psychopaths in the following order and they do well in these industries bc they remain cool under pressure. Ceo’s (Politicians) Lawyers Media, TV radio Sales Surgeons Journalists Police / fire /Military Clergy Chefs Civil servants Best of luck
