Netting FRESH BAIT when lure action is slow | inshore fishing BERMUDA

Here's a few clips from December and over the holiday. I haven't seen many patrols to cast over, so I decided to use the cast net and do something a bit different by throwing some fresh pilchards and fry.

It would be cool to see the carry on of hogfish quest, I recently caught a 15lb one on a bucktail jig while fishing for bones, definitely didn't expect it.

@@luremongers8544 I live in somerset and don't fish much further down the island, but there are a ton of sand flats here holding bones and hogs, I recommend Daniels head bay or down by the somerset bridge inlet, but it has to be early in the morning before the boats come through, the best bait for the hogs are either mud crab or specifically shrimp heads, often the shrimp bodies get eaten by other stuff.

@@luremongers8544 For bones the best baits are squid and pilchard, it can be hit or miss and I recommend trying small bucktails or 2 inch vudu shrimp.

Pricey, but worth it in the long run if you take care of it. Saves time and money. If you have squid jigs and a net, there's no need to pay for bait.

My typical inshore setup is a 2500 reel, 7 ft medium rod sometimes medium heavy for extra muscle, 15lb braid with 25lb mono leader. For artificial paddle tails in natural colours are a must have for most jacks will be active around that time. Don't forget a few straight retrieve hard lures.

Nothing as nice as that unfortunately. I picked up a picsifun chaos XS 50. Thought it would be a great entry level baitcaster to learn on based on reviews.
