Gorgeous song. It just... Makes me think of sitting on my front porch, looking over the fields while the moon is shining down, and just relaxing into the music and forgetting all else which exists outside of myself and the melody.

I'm so happy that Eivør's voice and style wasn't ruined with forcing her to be an opera singer with an over-abundance of falsetto. Although I would not doubt for a second if she has had professional development, her inflections and the nuanced folk style of her homeland is so beautiful and such a pleasure to listen to. Bravo - this is a marvelous performance. And the lyrics are so haunting! Eivør, your music and your talent truly does have it all.
@chuckstorm70929 ай бұрын
you mean "vibrato," not "falsetto." Falsetto is a male voice singing above tenor range into the alto and soprano range of women.

I am wondering the same thing! I think it is the little metal table she's holding it on and the way she rocks the kalimba from side to side on it...just a guess, though :) Maybe it is open on the bottom and has a wavering effect when the opening is covered and uncovered, similar to what happens when we cover and uncover our mouth while singing a pitch.

Totally. Especially when you consider I can't even spell/pronounce her name. But clearly I fly thousands of miles, every day, to stalk her in whatever European county she lives in. Despite the fact that by the time I was mid-flight back to the States, it would be time to depart for Europe again. Damn, man, you're so fucking clever. You figured out this entire system of mine, all by your lonesome? Aren't you a clever boy? Clearly you're some kind of genius.

@Ollovka10 жыл бұрын
Netto Sousa Thanks man, you prolly made my New Years day better! :*
@QuorkQTar10 жыл бұрын
Bounty Satta Netto Sousa I think it's a Sansula; that's a modern instrument (developed 2001) consisting of the sound frame of a traditional kalimba (not the whole Kalimba!) mounted on a small leathern drumlike structure. This increases resonance and also allows for the strange, lowpass-like effects we can hear in the beginning of this recording.
