Youre right. This is something that happens to all art mediums once the gamechangers have experimented and came up something that just takes everyone by storm. Then people will just bite their style and the genre becomes somewhat inbred, with artists only taking inspiration from the exact same genre and place they are a part of! Nowadays we dont get people like SGP or anyone else that looks outside the status quo and combines all kinda different shit.

honestly my opinion on the matter is that, when there actually was and there still is , but a huge underground scene with unkown people years ago, like that was awesome . but it seems like nowadays instead of making music for the enjoyment of it , and seeking for enjoyment. but now people are just obsessed with everything else but it, it just seems all like a status popularity contest, and i know its always been but holy jeez. like the reason why spaceghostpurrp and that era of people was golden for underground was becuase they were literally just unknown. like i miss when underground rappers, were just unknown, like not labeled underground, but just simply not known yet. like there so much talent brewing always it just depends as to where you look, and the reason why all this the underground is dead bs is being talked about always is because ljke all ts osamason and etc isnt even like near underground that shit is popular atp, like everywherw u go that dudes name is in someones mouth. i dont know if im communicating myself correctly, but this whole new meaning to the "underground" is so whack, corny, and complete opposite of what it actually is and means .

Yhh ur right about beats and flows being quickly saturated as soon as they can be replicated…”type beat culture”. With the music coming out of the underground: Papasquat called it ADHD music or something like that- think both when he reacted to Xaviersobased - patchmade and Hi-C - No emotionzz… I think now the underground is just stuck in a spiral of making abrasive but clunkier beats until it’s unintelligible. We are going to be hearing a lot more jerk type best for a year or two…
@dontcrampmystyle37 ай бұрын
TLDR; I like Xav and what he’s “done” but Yh the “underground” is in a cycle of ppl waiting for the new thing then copying basically. There’s a mixtape by James Ferraro: “Bebetunes- Inhale C4” it predicts how fucked up cloud rap beats would be in the future but predates this. It was an “ironic” take on 2010s hip hop production but even served as an inspiration for Bladees sound. You should give it a listen. Great video too🤞🏾
@wntrsoul7 ай бұрын
@@dontcrampmystyle3need a tldr for second block
@ogarrt7 ай бұрын
it’s called inspiration. You can’t belittle someone for not ushering in something completely unheard of and deciding to expand upon an already existing sound wave deeming them as a copycat; you can form new sounds from sounds. People have been “waiting for the newest thing to copy” for a hot minute that’s not new behavior that’s just what comes with this it’s not some “new age underground music spiral”. There is however a lack of pioneers ushering in completely new stuff compared to older eras
@dontcrampmystyle36 ай бұрын
@@ogarrt didn't mean for my comment to come off as a fully negative critique- was adding onto the video. By "stuck in this spiral" I was referring to new styles of production effortlessly becoming more maximalist and crazy as it has been for a while- its no surprise that Xavs influences are Lex Luger (Save Me- Chief Keef) and Bladee.
