I actually love this as a film and then went back to the novel and find it better for sure. Since I experienced the film first I guess I love it as much. It has many flaws but still a good film. I believe I had read at some point that the music for the film had been composed for 2001 but Stanley Kubrick rejected it and it was used for the film .

Movie kinda tepid. Wikipedia says the actors kept changing the script with the ok of the the producer. Morris West was not happy. He was particularly sensitive to theological verisimilitude. He finally took his name off the ctedits. I read the novel in high school soon after becoming an (Evangelical) Christian, being brought up in mainline Protestant Christianity. I enjoyed this show. If anything it was too short.
