so the destination is reachable but R1 won't know that because the R3 does't have a route to send the acknowledgement message back to the 12.1.1.0 network

I have done this Lab the ping does not work on the router but it work on PC from LAN on R1 to LAN R3... WHat i have done, i create static route and add these network on my routing table

You should not add wan link subnets in routing table

Ping will not work because if source is not set , the R1 will use outgoing interface IP of which 12.1.1.1 is. Since R3 has not static route to network 12.1.1.0/24 it won't work.

@ set source of ping request from 10.1.1.0 subnet or write static routes on R1 and R3 towards 12.1 and 23.1 subnets

It will not ping, because we need to configure static route on R1 to introduce 23.0 network and on R3 to introduce 12.0 network, then it will ping each other. AFGHANISTAN❤INDIA
