WHY VLANS ARE VERY IMPORTANT?

Let’s say you have customer traffic for an ISP, you don’t want customers to be able to intercept each others traffic. Vlans are amazing for security and making sure services are not mixed

It helps you segment the network. Let’s say you have a HR department wouldn’t want that department on the same vlan as let’s say your financial department. So then you would need to configure your router with sub interfaces, and after that configure the physical interface. From there on your layer 2 switch configure it to switchport mode trunk and after restrict the vlans that you desire.
