Networking Tips for Artists Who Hate Small Talk
In this video, I share valuable insights on networking for artists. I discuss how to overcome the discomfort of self-promotion and build genuine connections with collectors, galleries, and communities that align with your artistic vision.
I emphasize the importance of being authentic, providing value to others, and nurturing relationships as your most valuable currency. I share my personal experiences, such as partnering with local coffee shops for painting workshops and aligning myself with a non-profit that supports artists.
I also highlight the significance of pitching yourself, diversifying your promotion strategies beyond social media, and staying true to your priorities as an artist. By following the feel-good trail of authenticity and uplifting others along the way, you can attract your ideal tribe and create meaningful connections in the art world.
This video is a must-watch for any artist looking to build their network and grow their creative career.

I’m one of those introverts that shy away from the methods you described, although when I was in my late thirties I didn’t hesitate. I did poetry nights in coffee shops, created art workshops for young women…life has had its way with me and now in my mid sixties I feel more shy about it. I appreciate the tips you gave because it just reminds me that I don’t have to bite off more than I can chew, but I can envision the possibilities that fit into my current life and what I can realistically do energetically. Thanks for the video!❤

Thank you for sharing. I wonder if you can do poetry nights or art workshops virtually since you have experience doing so in person. Just a thought. You definitely don’t have to bite off more than you can chew. It’s something I’m learning myself and making sure I’m making time for rest. Thank you for watching this video ❤️

Avoid working on relationships that are actually more bringing you down ……keeping in mind it’s you that controls what brings you down. I love you said there is something valuable in everybody and to focus on those parts will make a better you. A lot of things you say can be applied to other ways of life

Thank you for this! I accepted that I really have to put myself out there and network with others, but stuck in that in between phase because of overthinking 😅 I also appreciate you being an artist who is also black, sensitive, a woman, and a mother who can be a little awkward at times. I relate to all of that lol. Thanks again ❤️‍🔥

I understand what you mean about being sensitive to different energies. I’m an empath too (not sure if you’re familiar with this term) and I easily get exhausted and drained especially in large crowds.
