Thanks for sharing. Your the first person that has mentioned that the motor is a delta wound motor. I had no idea that RC motors come in both Delta and Wye configuration. Just like a full size 3Ø motor. Thanks for this awesome video. 👍

Lol! I been around the hobby for a minute. Im pretty sure most windings are wye nowadays they are more efficient. But yeah Neu offered the deltas as well to get different kv. Some say the deltas are a little smoother on bottom end and have a little more torque. All i know is that they all haul ass!

Absolutely, at this point i would suspect any new castle ccneu type motor would be a fake - castle hasn’t made that design in years.

Cool I thought I was probably the only one still running vintage motors😂 I still have two 1406-1y 5700kv neu sensorless 4 pole motors. Got them from Amain hobbies so I know there not fakes. I remember the fakes back when they were still being sold especially the 2200kv for the 8th scale stuff.

The fakes are still sold. Now they are even copying the new style motors.

Really my best advice is to avoid the old style ccneu motors unless you can make for sure its an original. So many counterfeits.

I wish I had seen this video first. I got lucky and bought the real 1515 1y 2200kv. Checking it as you described. The mistake was I bought mm2 with that motor for my losi 8ight xe. You mentioned lowering gear ratio. Hopefully lowering punch and percentage of throttle doesn't cook the esc

The mamba monster 2 is a beast. I wouldn’t worry about the esc. Mines like 10 years old still going strong 💪

@@SuperFastRc thanks for the reply. I realize now that it is more of a truggy setup. You have any recommendations where to start on a pinion size due to my mistake. I plan on racing not bashing.

@@stevebates3573 I used to run that setup i would try a 14t pinion. Then if thats not enough try a 15

The torx screws on your castle motor kinda threw me off a little bit . I've bought several Castle creations motors directly from their website and I've never received any was torx head screws in mind, they were all hex bit 1.5mm.

You really cant trust these old castle style motors. Most of them are fakes at this point. Very few actually are castles

It sucks when you really think you are showing an authentic castle motor in comparison to a fake and then end up finding out the motor you thought was authentic was just a more deceiving knock off of castle motors. This world has gotten so crazy, it's hard to tell what is real and what is fake with anything anymore including people lol.

You can use the stock speed control or a mamba monster 2 would work great too. They are not bad motors they just dont last long
