The funny thing is that Vedal went AFK to get more "drinks" and came back to the stream, without even knowing this whole call/conversation took place. He returned like 2 minutes after anny hung up.

Anny needs a thousand hugs, Japan as nice as it is will treat foreigners as an "outside circle" (pleasant but superficial kindness) So wish their circle would meet irl for New Years somehow

Japan can be a very isolating country even if you speak the language. I’ve been there 4 times and recently spent 2 months travelling around. There’s a lot of foreigners around so I was often not alone in the major cities. But when you get outside of Tokyo/kyoto/osaka, and start travelling the countryside or to smaller cities like Fukuoka, it gets lonely pretty fast. The thing is, there seems to be this misconception that Japanese treat foreigners like outsiders. This is not the case. They’re just really shy and not used to interaction with foreigners. Once you get drinking with them though they’re your best friends!

@@Zei33 If you read what you just wrote, you're kind of right but also proving the opposite. Meaning: you are lonely in big cities (if you don't count other foreigners, that's cheating) but less lonely in small towns. In those smaller towns from what I've heard there's not so much "national identity" going on to which the Japanese have every right but which will result in some people being lonely That is when it comes to interactions with Japanese people which may be the vast majority depending on your location. They are civil and pleasant to be around (unless your behavior becomes obnoxious or loud in the wrong place) but also treat outsiders as, well, outsiders by all accounts I know myself, meaning they'll be polite but not treat you as one of theirs. Making them more forgiving but also more reserved. I am of course not denying that being shy plays a smaller or bigger role on an individual basis as well of course And don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree that drinking and being persistent may break that barrier fast but that more than once that often doesn't happen. Some people enjoy their time in Japan, some are absolutely freaking miserable. I love Japanese people but as you well know they're culturally very different, especially compared to Slavs, don't get me started on that lol
@Zei3318 күн бұрын
@ I can’t deny that they are very different. A Japanese university student rented a room in my house for a semester. We got along well and became good friends. But there are some unspoken rules in Japanese culture that really don’t translate to Australians (like being open about finances). I call them cultural landmines. Even so, the point I was trying to make was that even if you don’t have Japanese friends to spend time with, there are tons of foreigners and visitors that you can have a great time with (in the cities). Rural Japan is desolately quiet. There’s pretty much nothing going on anywhere.

@@Zei33 Oh yeah, that the villages are quite desolate is no surprise especially with their dwindling population growth, I agree on that completely. I meant just that the Japanese people that are there don't really mind what country you're from. So if we only take the Japanese into consideration, who are still the vast majority in their country, they will be more open-minded outside of bigger cities

Neuro saying "heart" is like FWMC saying "bau bau" they think it just makes everything they say/do alright after saying it... and it does.
