Funny, no one ever believes me when I say I started meditating to help my trading, and I sometimes wonder if that is how I made the change to become successful lol. I have finally reached a point where if I make $2000 or lose $1000 my mood and my attitude do not change. Great advice here! thanks for sharing!

You've hit the nail on the head with my current trading style! I recently turned my 20k account into 50k in just 1 month, but I then proceeded to lose 36k! So it's a big thank you from me in the UK. Now time to calm and nurture the dopamine effects and focus on the process and rules and to keep checking in with your vids to help remind me. Thank you Peachy

I love this video. You made this aspect so clear and understandable. It isn't talked about clearly enough by any other teacher i have found. They usually just say, "You're on tilt" or "Don't trade after a big win day" and not the real reasons why behind it. I am going to keep this on my favorites and remember to watch it often! Thank You :)

Thank you this has happened to me 3 times the past year. I did extremely well and the following week 40-50% gain wasn’t good enough to me This is so helpful I downloaded this video and will watch it many more times to remind me Thank you !!!!!

You are wise beyond your years! I'm of that vintage where withdrawing real money is more interesting and valuable than building a large war chest. I wait for high probability base hits and measure how well I do staying with the method vs $ or %. Once I started actually spending the money, trading became way more tangible and my account was less abstract, funny money. I value how the discipline is truly changing my life. Be well!

This is so right! I had a lucky win of $169, followed the next day by a $420 loss because I was over-confident. For a few weeks, I was super cautious about buying anything and sold way too soon out of fear. But small wins have added up and now that loss is a thing of the past.

My fix for this was the (R) (r) and g , or G days. basically 1-5% swings in either direction. don't allow account to go below -2% say, make your own rules. if you pass that small red day, then you are BREAKING rules and now have a major R day. Don't have any of those. Most days are g or G big days +2 or 5% don't go for more than 5% or 10% gain on your account for the day or you will start expecting that every time. consistent green days and minimal r days is what wins.

Great advice. Getting addicted to consistency and following the plan. Emotion causes you to chase the win, which means oversized risk, which turns trading into casino betting, which never ends well.

Great advice. This is the most important aspect of trading to understand. And I am still struggling with it. I told my mentor (at the time) that i was struggling and i had identified this as the problem. He told me that i was just using it as an excuse.

Just watched video on this subject with Micheal Hudson’s Stock Therapy from 2 years ago. This makes perfect sense and yes I did all of this recently and in the 90’s which blew up my account after 911 stock market closure. Long ago when eTrade IPO took place and brand new to trading a $86k profit came out of nowhere. Worst possible thing that happens to a new trader. Long, long story… “It’s a long way there, it’s a long way to where I’m going””. I ❤your insight!!!!

Andrew Huberman talks about getting your dopamine from enjoying the hard work and avoid anything else that spikes it before, during or after that. This means no Internet browsing, Facebook, games, food (sugar), cigarettes, etc. This way you reward your brain from the work itself. Meditation, reading a book, taking a walk are allowed.
@ce8539 Жыл бұрын
i feel that mannnn. it would be so hard for me to give up browsing the net / gaming, luckily im on point with not much sugar and no smoking/social media but even just those 2 would be a huge reset for my brain. maybe a couple weeks on a no electronics retreat could start me off right.
@Freddie1M Жыл бұрын
I'd love to be able to do this but it's so hard to achieve that as a trader, because for the most part trading is actually boring. The process of planning and studying trading isn't necessarily boring, but the act in which you have to sit there staring at candles waiting for a setup is boring to me. Even though that is boring it doesn't mean I don't like trading because I find how the markets work generally interesting and there is always a question about why the market moved in that way. Despite how unpredictable the market is I don't necessarily get engaged if the market does something 'interesting' because anything interesting is something I would not expect, and therefore I should not be trading that unexpected price action. Most of the time I am hoping the market does exactly what I want it to, and if that happens I don't find that surprising, it's just something I have anticipated. It's therefore hard to see how I can get my dopamine from the market itself before I actually take a trade. I could be completely wrong in how I'm assessing my own emotions regarding this, and maybe despite everything I have said I do get dopamine from the waiting phase but I just get so much more from e.g. random internet browsing, games etc so that dopamine elevation from the waiting phase in trading becomes insignificant. Please ket me know your thoughts? Anyone else feel free to share your thoughts to.

Absolutely brilliant video. Just took your Trader archetype quiz and I'm 'Shock/Horror' "The Gambler". Aha, which I already knew but it was good having the confirmation. I love Andrew Huberman, but ironically probably addicted to his videos. haha. Also, as a Yogi, I'm no stranger to meditation. I did love the idea of becoming addicted to consistency and sticking to your trading plan rather than the big wins. I'll definitely be implementing that transition. Once again really relatable video throughout. Girl after my own heart. 🧡 Haha.
