Physics is boring? Take that back! Also, Sheldon doesn't have a mental illness, "his mother got him tested". Penny is a struggling actress/ waitress with a small alcohol addiction who was popular and a bully in school. Her being politically correct about manliness would be out of character. If you're interested in the show's take on sexism and especially women in science, I would recommend season 6 episode 18 witch is specifically focused on this, I surely would love to hear your take on it. The show arguably made nerds cool and was validated by amazing guests but at the core is pop culture made by pop culture people and the comedic premise is stereotyping nerds as socially challenged. All this can be forgiven in my opinion as the purpose is comedy and there should be no limit on what you are allowed to joke about. Laughter is the strongest human clopping mechanism and if comedians don't have a hidden agenda, they should not be called out on their craft. Some of the guests in the show are: Stephen Hawking,

In some of the writers' interviews they point out that Sheldon misses the sarcasm and for a long time fails to admit that Amy's work is equally important and difficult than that of another field as a theoretical physicist. The aim of your video was to point out any mistakes that may have been made, but I think it might interest you as they still proposed a realistic character who knows how to "joke" about her job, as you rightly pointed out in the elephant quote. Hi! You taught me something new today haha! I did some research and, yes! It seems like we don't fully understand why it makes us hungry but that appears to be a normal reaction. Anatomy labs are a bit different from research labs though, the reason why the smell is so strong is because you usually have multiple preserved subjects out at one time, whereas in a lab you'd have only one or two out and they'd be in a fume hood. The conditions we put anatomy students in can actually be dangerous to their long term health, but it's (in my opinion) a result of poor funding to those labs.

@@AskANeuroscientist i assumed you would have had to have done some anatomy to become a neuroscientist? I did a degree in exercise science and for that I had four different anatomy subjects over the years. The students who do the courses here that would lead to neuroscience also do at least four anatomy subjects.

Us older ones have probably survived because we're nicely pickled in formaldehyde. And we used proper technique, so didn't contaminate ourselves or our specimens, with or without gloves. I've worked in histology and with unsealed radioactive sources for in-vivo tests on humans. And TBBT is probably my favourite programme. Hope you can enjoy it without picking it apart all the time 😊

Lovely video. I do research in neuroscience using drosophila. We do use bacteria a lot, specially for me. I clone certain genes into plasmids to be injected into the embryo of the fly to express that gene, more specifically to use the Gal4 driver to give signal of that gene. So there are a lot of molecular biology and bacteria involved in neuroscience.

Your avatar is amusing, tell me, how do you explain God who apparently is so powerful to have created the whole universe and supposedly knows everything that's going on, get's owned by a mere fallen angel? I've asked this question many times to Christians and have yet to get an answer. Also here's another doozie, who created God if everything has to be created?
@TTTJACK63 ай бұрын
Not sure how you brought God into this comment it’s off topic and whilst I’m there on that why do people just want to argue I will never understand and you are an example of this. I’m not sure you understood the persons comment actually I think you just chose to raise God to start an argument… and that’s cool but also it’s so tiring now I’ve seen it so many times online this is actually aimed at mocking a certain audience not God but you knew that

Ps the fallen angel was given earth to reign over until Jesus returns however authority is given to Jesus hence he can and we can cast our demons in his name… who created God I’m not sure we all know … but il answer I am a Christian and my brother is an Astro physicist so I have great perspectives

Your channel is good but if you don't watch the show and know the characters traits you really should just stick to the biology of it. The show is not homophobic nor sexist...
@AskANeuroscientist3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I try to stay mostly on the science but as a woman and member of the LGBT community I do feel a responsibility to call out homophobia and sexism where I see it. Unfortunately the show does have underlying tones of both of those things. There's a great video essay on it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmSQmYKfnNSrftU. I do think that the show is overall good, but we acknowledge the problematic parts while still enjoying the comedy.

@@AskANeuroscientist Jim Parsons is right there though. I’d think he wouldn’t be taking part in something that is homophobic. Just like all the other gay actors that participated in the series.

I’d say that the show does a good job on showing strong and intelligent women. Penny, while not a school person, is really good with people and finds success in her job because of her talent. And she’s also very “masculine” while wearing pretty shoes lol Same with Bernadette that has a great job while also having kids, and Amy that takes more care of herself as the show goes on, learning to be with other people etc.. Of course it’s a sitcom so humor is a big part of it. And I find it really funny! Unfortunately we won’t have sitcoms like this one anymore...
