The best Metal Band, Spiritual Metal. Neurosis is the best band in history of alternative music. My first experience with Neurosis was at this album and Enemy of the sun. It's changed my life! This band has a unique vibe. When you listen to them, you feel all your rage and at the same time you're so touched that you can't hold back your tears. Best band ever. This album is still an amazing recording. The very beginning of Spiritual Neurosis. More than 30 years of Metal and extreme music and Neurosis is my Band Number one. Unique! Huge! Terrific!

My first Neurosis album was "Word as Law" great record. What they did after that is epic. They became the Pink Floyd of metal. Such an underrated band. This album is perfection

Criminally underrated... But not the best Alt metal band. There are so many that influenced music and brought metal to the masses. Unlike any other decade exciting and fresh. Quicksand, Helmet, Tool just to name a few that were influenced by each other. They shared ideas and didn't get but hurt if a song worked better in a different band. What a gift to grow up in the 90s

When I bought a surround sound system off craigslist years ago, I played this song a lot on it as a test track, police came to my door to tell me to turn it down, worth it!

That intro. Like some eerie procession scene of nightly creatures moving in an oddly angled, crooked choreography. Clearly indicative of the tension within, with a hint of scorn for existence.

Best progressive metal I have ever heard (and yes, I still have to check out Opeth, but this easily beats anything by Dream Theater). Unbelievably good.
@riccardo88334 ай бұрын
It's a different kind of progressive. This is more based on atmosphere, also definitely more hardcore-rooted.
@shroomlord6823 ай бұрын
this is not prog, this is post-metal, its post-rock mixed with sludge metal. ISIS is another great band from the genre
@riccardo88332 ай бұрын
@@shroomlord682 if we wanna be like that, this album is actually more atmo sludge than post metal. It's still clearly progressive in nature tho.
@shroomlord6822 ай бұрын
@@riccardo8833 atmo sludge is kinda the same, but i see your point

I think it's completely appropriate to call this album progressive metal. It has a LOT more melody and orchestration than their later albums.

No seed will grow of this barren earth. Our hope unborn has died. I've slept in the dirt under the light of the moon and I know our souls have perished. Calling to those that would hear but I am deaf. Clawing at those that would feel but I am dead to my own fears. Our cancer has grown into a stone. This water tastes like poison. Your doomsday machine towers above me to instill my vision. Glowing pyre in the wind, like a glowing pyre in the wind I stand to heal. I tried to touch the feelings they have shown, our cancer's grown into a stone. More cracks as our ceiling caves in. This is our destiny. These are visions, visions on.

The idols of my idols... This my friends, was a revolution in music. Should've been millionaires. No joke. This world is getting shallow... Not even the LP i bought will make a difference.haha Fuck. Im getting nihilist again.

Why are we bringing the concept of idols into the discussion of a band’s music? The hyperbole is off putting to me.
