I deeply deeply appreciate that you're covering topics that have such stigma around them, these videos are practically invaluable. This video and the one on police answering suicide 911 calls. These videos have this uncanny way of being released after terrifying events in my life and giving me a framework to think about them. I have seen literally no other source that gets even close to covering those specific issues.

i also have no sources but I am diagnosed with bad migraines, my sinuses explode p often lmao. I had an awful headache one day when my friends were going to the gym. I ignored it, but it started to spread all around my head just like the only three or four cluster headaches I’ve ever had, which freaked me out. I stopped working out, sitting on the side so when they finished they could come and get me. My friend offered me some golden tipped ecuadorian shit and man, it didn’t push the headache away immediately but it felt like it gave me the power to make my head pulse, until i felt the pulsing in the center of where the pain started. It felt like that area was stretched, getting thinner and thinner until I could deal with it. After I just drank water and closed my eyes for 5 min and then before they were done, I’d opened my eyes and felt as if I was just experiencing a mild headache. That shit was crazy to me, every other time I’ve had one I literally lay down and I’m dead for that day, once it lasted near two. there’s no sleeping for more than a few minutes, no comfortable position to lay down in, as any pressure anywhere on your head hurts much more than it should. But, I was fine. I don’t think it’s a medicine specifically for that per say, it might not and probably won’t work that way for everyone but to those it works in that way for, trust theyd be upset it’s illegal.

In fact, all the evidence shows that alcohol and tobacco are the only 2 *true* schedule 1 drugs. That’s the sad, ironic truth. Tobacco has no medicinal use. I'd argue that the DEA itself is an organization that should be drastically rolled back in every respect. As far as I'm concerned, the mental health crisis we're dealing with is largely due to the absolute trainwreck of a country we live in. Add to that my issues with criminalizing a victimless act. My body is mine. The state should have very marginal and limited say over what I do and don't do to it.

For me MDMA is the best of the bests. If you use it recreationally once in every 1-2 months you probably won't develop too much tolerance and also you can defend your brain with some specific nutritions from neurotoxicity and oxidative stress. Most of the drugs are fine but you have to know the substance, how it works, what does it damage etc. Once you are educated enough you can use them safely. Also moderation is key. Try to avoid highly addictive drugs and use those you can benefit from. These substances are meant to improve your life instead of ruining it. These should be legal at least for those who are educated enough to use them with responsibility.

Thank you for this great, highly intelligent video. With cannabis now legal in a number of US states it seems surprising that so little research is being done - even if it was instigated by ma manufacturers and distributers. (Or maybe they're all too stoned to get round to the complexities of research. . . .). It would have been brilliant to hear about K is for Ketamine, though I understand it is in Schedule 3 and thus, I suppose, outside your Schedule 1 remit. Anyone interested should have a look at the hilarious "An unusual reaction to a strong painkiller" on KZbin

For what it's worth, I know it's anecdotal, but I've stopped using cannabis a few times, and I've found that while CBD capsules help my fibromyalgia a bit, my mental health took a dive. When I started using again, I find my mood is more even and PTSD bothers me less (I still get flashbacks, but they're just... there, I don't really feel anything or react to them most of the time anymore) It's damaging my lungs, but I can't walk nearly as well without it, and going outside is a lot harder. I've gone from stuck on the sofa in pain and fatigue to walking freely in minutes after a vape. It's hard to comment on how it affects my memory coz I'm ADHD and had a terrible memory for a long time before I started using four years ago. Like I say, I know it's only anecdotal, but while feedback may be mixed, I can confirm it's not nothing

Unfortunately, the real reason why governments do not change the classification of drugs is not related to whether or not they have a medical use, but because of economic interest, more precisely the big pharmaceutical companies, because for them there is no interest in a medicine that cures you in a single dose, because that doesn't bring them any profit, and that's why it's also easier to study highly addictive drugs, because the longer they manage to make you take a medication, the more money they earn.

But I would imagine that unless any subject A became so violent that he was walking along the sidewalk toting an axe, he doesn't legally have to take his psychiatric drugs each and every time. There is no cops with a badge and a gun in any persons household making the person take his psychiatric drugs each and every time. Just thought I'd mention that having once been addicted to crack cocaine, I never craved marijuana ever again. I highly approve of medicinal uses for cbd, but I can't stand the smell of marijuana burning anymore! I've been crack free for almost 19 years. Long before I was a crack addict, I had my experiences with LSD and psilocybin, both of which slowly made me a more aware person/less delusional as well as a more compassionate person.

Great video! I just have to ask, what are you sources for ayahuasca or DMT causing serotonin syndrome? DMT doesn't make the brain make more serotonin, unlike MDMA, it's just almost identical to it. I just don't see how DMT can cause it and not psilocybin when they are almost identical in chemical structure. I hope you, or someone in the comments can enlighten me :)

Great question! While it's possible to get serotonin syndrome from large amounts of ayahuasca (it has very weak serotonin reuptake inhibition) , the real danger comes if you are taking SSRIs, because combining them with the MAOIs found in ayahuasca could easily lead to serious physical harm.

The fact that all these are illegal while alcohol is not, is beyond me. The fact that people not even consider alcohol in the category 'drugs' just shows how brainwashed everyone is and just believes everything they're told about these things. The underlying factor in drug abuse is almost always a mental condition and countries as portugal and austria have already shown that legalizing drugs and spending the money from fighting drugs on mental help for these people, and making the contact at places where they acquire the drugs is 1000 times more efficient than what is happening now.

I am currently supposed to be using medical marijuana to treat my PTSD, but I've not done a good job of taking it because I've been nervous about how my mom and dad feel about it, about where I can use it since it's illegal to smoke in public and edibles always mess with me, and the city I live in is really windy these days. I'm disabled, and a big part of my inability to work and function is due to PTSD. It's really complex and really hard to treat/avpid triggering. So I have to turn to alternative treatments to improve it, because my psychiatric meds just don't do enough for it (I still take them as directed, the help with ADHD, depression, and anxiety).

"Control" is not how the government controls them but instead how it tries to do so. It merely drives up the price and the risks, including the risk of incarceration. (I am not a libratarian about anything.)

Quaaludes are a prescription drug. You put them in the same category as no medical use. My mother-in-law was prescribed them for cancer. I don't know if they still prescribe it but it sure made the pharmaceutical industry of boatload of money.

Why do 'shrooms' or 'cannabis' need to be synthesised so you can't get high any more? Getting high is one of the few pleasures many people have in life. No one asks you what medical benefit you get from a shot of Vodka. Part of the curing effect is euphoria and hallucinatory experiences.

GHB is Xyrem for Narcolepsy. It's insane and the processes for getting it is nuts (took it for years as a narcoleptic). That one at least makes sense. Super dangerous, and limited scope. But it's price and limited availability is still a huuuuuge issue in the Narcoleptic community. Jazz Pharmaceuticals is making freaking bank off of it.

You can't use addictive potential as the standard because in treatment they don't distinguish between physical and psychological addiction. They think being a chocolate find is the same as being a Heroin addict...? Really???
This is why stupid people think they know everything.
