"East Side" man knows what's up. Hidden gems peppered throughout the rolling hills of the Upper East Side going north then west on Panorama. Then there are the country club homes down a little ways in the '06 as well. Bakersfield has its problems like any other mid-sized city there is beauty and history as well. Old Town needs love and renovation, but there's much opportunity there as well.

Hi Gaige, I'm pondering a move from Visalia to Bakersfield. Could you give me some insight about the positives and negatives of living in Bakersfield? Thank You
@gaigeedgeworth6472 жыл бұрын
@@jorgesalazar818 quick rundown. I would come down here and visit and see certain things. Downtown isn’t like other downtowns yet I’ve heard we might be expanding into getting downtown revitalized and hopefully that will do some good. It’s all really relative on what you like as a individual and what’s your interests are for positives. Areas I would say to live in would be southwest and northwest and east side has some good areas in it but very far in between. The bluffs would be the better area on the east side. Another positive would be our location from many things. We are like two hours away from the coast mountains LA other things as well. One negative thing our air quality. I also would say another one would be. We have a lot of unfortunate people who don’t understand how to be kind. But that is very far in between where most people are very kind. I would say overall, though Bakersfield is a decent place to live. It’s more on the affordable side of California were still of like the big city aspect as you may be familiar with with living in Visalia.
@jorgesalazar8182 жыл бұрын
Affordability is a big factor for me, the houses aren't outrageously expensive like the rest of CA. And the air quality is just as bad here in Visalia so that won't be much different for me. I should probably visit down there more often, i want to live closer to LA but not too close, so i believe Bakersfield to be my best bet.
@gaigeedgeworth6472 жыл бұрын
@@jorgesalazar818 then I would say as a stranger over the internet welcome to Bakersfield once you make the move here. I honestly think you’ll love moving here lol our housing market for new houses and older houses is going quite well right now. I do advise coming down and maybe meeting with a realtor and telling them what you’re looking for and what you want and don’t want. I know Bakersfield gets a bad rap but it’s definitely better than other locations in my personal opinion.

This is such a wonderful video. Thank you for that! The true testament to architects, in this case Neutra, is the joy and warmth owners who live in these special homes exude when talking about them. I have experienced in person the love that David and Josie have for the Davis house, and watching and listening to Patricia warms my heart. There is a reason these homes are timeless and magical. Thanks to the stewards who care for them and to you for sharing them with us.

Thank you for the video. The style has an emotional feeling to it for me. I had a chance to work in around and thru Neutras' mid-century architectural style in a part time basis for 20+ years at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa California. I do hope they can avoid tearing down as much of his work on the campus as possible and if they have to reflect the style in the new buildings they put up on the campus.

This is really well done and I am only somewhat interested in architecture. It fascinates me and I love exploring creatively built spaces, but I don't dig too deep. Don't know why this showed up in my feed, but curiosity about something culturally significant in Bakersfield got me to watch. It's all fascinating, but the Patricia Leddy inteview was just such a pleasure. What an interesting person and the work of art at 5:00... is just everything I love about art. It's beautiful, evocative... a mystery pulling up feelings and associations I didn't know I had. Got me looking into her and sad to learn she just died earlier this year. Does anyone know anything about her art... if it displayed? Or anything else about her life? All I could find was her obituary. Thanks for this great story of both houses you've told here. You made a difference in someone's day. I feel better and more connected to the human spirit for having watched it.
