There are lines by The Incredible String Band that may have influenced this beautiful lyric. From a song called "Job's Tears".... they go... Why heroes die at sunrise Why the birds are arrows of the wise Why each perfumed flower Why each moment has its hour It's you It's all true Stranger than that we're alive Stranger than that Stranger than that Stranger than that we're alive Whatever you think It's more than that, more than that Happy man, the happy man Doing the best he can, doing the best he can

This song is about Anne frank
@sarcasmagasm8 жыл бұрын
+Rylan Kaplan That's ... kind of oversimplifying it ... quiet a bit. It certainly references Anne Frank, it definitely invokes her as a muse in the third verse, and the fourth verse, is supposed to be Anne frank singing through Jeff Mangum as if he were a spirit medium. But it's mostly a poetic commentary on the absurdity of existence.

This song was released when my dad was 20. He would take the bus from his base all the way into the city to see my mom. He said this song would often play on the radio and he’d often think of my mom when hearing the first lyrics… 5 years later me and my sister existed. My mom and dad would both play this song on the radio whenever it was on the radio. Now I’m 20. My parents have both been divorced for over 10 years and are in their mid 40s now. My dad is remarried and I don’t talk to my mom anymore unfortunately. But when I take an Uber from the city into a small town to see my girlfriend I always play this song on my phone. Things and people will change but some things stay the same.

What a beautiful face I have found in this place That is circling all round the sun What a beautiful dream That could flash on the screen In a blink of an eye and be gone from me Soft and sweet Let me hold it close and keep it here with me And one day we will die And our ashes will fly from the aeroplane over the sea But for now we are young Let us lay in the sun And count every beautiful thing we can see Love to be In the arms of all I'm keeping here with me What a curious life We have found here tonight There is music that sounds from the street There are lights in the clouds Anna's ghost all around Hear her voice as it's rolling and ringing through me Soft and sweet How the notes all bend and reach above the trees Oh how I remember you How I would push my fingers through Your mouth to make those muscles move That made your voice so smooth and sweet But now we keep where we don't know All secrets sleep in winter clothes With one you loved so long ago Now he don't even know his name What a beautiful face I have found in this place That is circling all round the sun And when we meet on a cloud I'll be laughing out loud I'll be laughing with everyone I see Can't believe how strange it is to be anything at all

this song made me get in touch with beautiful emotions and feelings, listened to it happily and also at times of angst or while having depressive episodes, and i want to leave this comment here so i can come back a couple years later if i lived, and try to get nostalgic and reminisce times which I'll probably be praising for being better or happier, peaceful or simply simpler, and I'd like to remind myself that no, it's not that the old days were better or simpler or anything, our memories are just selective and we prettify the past and enshrine the prospect of a brighter future, and thats good, but focus on your present, because it is the future you were wishing for, and the best way to be generous is to give all your best in the present so it'll grow and you'll cultivate the goods in the future. Yeah that's enough bullshit its not like i don't have a notepad to go back to, now I'll go post this comment on other songs i love aswell.
