Such a great time. Although breaks happen, its the obstacles and getting through them that makes this such a rewarding hobby. It's twice as hard when you're filming. I look forward to the next one.

Awesome. That’s in my backyard 😁 We took 58 rigs for an “end of the year” run in 2023

@NVLunarTaco Thanks for stopping by the channel and for the comment! 58 rigs?!!! That’s quite a convoy!!! Sounds like a good group and a fun time! NV is a great state. If it wasn’t so blasted windy all the time, I’d seriously be considering escaping there from California! Adventure on!

Haha, I wonder… Thanks Audrey! I’m hoping Part 2 is a little easier to edit. Part 1 was a pain and took a long time for only 14 min!

What a great adventure! I'm in Reno.

Thank you Julia! Thanks for stopping by the channel and for the comment! Much appreciated. You are blessed to be in Reno! Sierras to your west and the Great Basin to your north, south and East. Endless playgrounds to choose from! Part 2 of this series will be off-road from Fallon to Hawthorne and Part 3 will be exploring old mines around Hawthorne. I also have a couple Black Rock episodes. Btw, I also worked at Barnes & Noble as a special orders clerk many moons ago! Take care! Adventure on!

Great scenery & a wonderful adventure! Sorry about your suspension! We have a stock LX 470 & I’m hesitant to go on such a challenging trail, as it is our daily driver! Northern Nevada is beautiful! Looking forward to Part 2! Thank you this very enjoyable video!

Thanks, Buck, for stopping by the channel and leaving such an encouraging comment. Means the world. As to your LX470 - that there is 100 Series Land Cruiser, a formidable off road machine. Don’t let the Lexus tuxedo fool you. Of course, if it’s stock height, you’ll want to be careful but you can take that rig A LOT of places as is! Thanks again for the kind and encouraging comments! Adventure on!

I need a good group of people like you guys to wheel with.. where you out of? I’m in Reno but I’m figuring you guys are from farther away based on your talk of Virginia city…
@SoccerMomOffroad27 күн бұрын
Hey Steve! A good group makes all the difference… as I said in the video! I’ve been wheeling with some of those guys since the late 90s! Seriously, long time friends. Actually, I’m from Redding, CA. Most the other guys are from the Placerville area, my old stomping grounds. Some ideas for finding a good group: join a 4wheel or overland group like Overland Bound or your local chapter of your state 4wheel drive association, or I bet there are several Reno off road Facebook groups you could join OR, drag your non-4wheeling-friends on an adventure with you, get them hooked and then talk them into buying a rig so they can go with you!!! You’ll find a good crew! Adventure on!

@ Yeah i tried out a few wheeling groups years ago, but found it was hard to find the right flavor… wholesome family, Christ minded people are harder to find than the People who drink, smoke, cus and talk dirty while they smash and abuse there rigs…been on a wheeling hiatus for some years now while we got through the baby phase, but kids are older now and im ready to get back to it. Been building a new rig that should be done by spring…. I’ll follow your page, and maybe someday we can meet up for a run if your group is open. Iv been exploring Nevada by dirt bikes for 20 years, so I know some cool spots too.

@stevehamel1336 wow brother, I hear you. Have you checked any of your local churches for wheeling groups? Your story sounds a lot like mine. Had a Suzuki Samurai built out in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. Sold it when the kids came along and drove a mini van for many years. Bought a beat up old Cherokee in 2018. Fixed it up and sold it and bought the GX in late 2020. Didn’t remember how much I missed adventuring until I got back behind the wheel of the Cherokee. I’ve thought about doing a subscriber weekend meetup but the channel is small and didn’t know if anyone would be interested. Small groups are better logistically than big groups anyway… Maybe in 2025 I’ll put something together. Stay tuned! My channel email is soccermomoffroad@gmail.com. I check it regularly. Feel free to reach out any time.

Off road fuel no taxes ! Lol

Hey thanks for the comment! When you’re from California, every other state is cheaper to off road in because of our insane gas taxes! Adventure on!

I see you're still on airbags there, better change it out to coil springs before you head out again. Are you still on the stock rear differential? I have a 470 too but I'm wary of taking it on terrain like what you did. Anyway great video and keep making more content like this 👍
@SoccerMomOffroad11 ай бұрын
Hey James! Yep, still running the air springs. I do have plans to do the coil spring swap which I’ll talk about in Part 2. The stock rear diff is plenty strong for what I do - and I do a lot. However, I don’t have a heavy right foot either. I really believe most people with rear diff failures abuse their rigs in Rubicon-type terrain. I have no desire to take the GX on trails like that. Those days are behind me. Your rear diff will be just fine - promise! Just treat her right and she’ll take care of you! Thanks again for the comment and the feedback - always so appreciated!!! Adventure on my friend!

Not very smart to do this type of overlanding without doing coil conversion.

that air spring system is a poor choice for the back country, where reliability is needed
@SoccerMomOffroad25 күн бұрын
Hey Anthony! Thanks for stopping by the channel and for the comment. In the end, you are correct. However, there are ways to set the GX up on air suspension that are decently reliable, mine was just not one of them. I won't go in to all of it now but, rest assured, she is now sitting on coil springs and all is well. Thanks again and Adventure On!
