I was taught very early in life, never "assume" that anything is just the way you think it is. Question what you see, look at it from other angles, think "outside the square" and be prepared to suck it up if you find you are wrong because that's how you learn and grow.

Dear Mr Clark, for a One Man Band it is in itself a Remarkable Effort Tracking and Trapping is a Trade on it's own from what I can gather. The Filming this and Packaging it all up for Tuesday Nights Viewing is a Marathon. Plus having to work in the Hot Killer Conditions these are the things most of Us don't see. / What a Man. / Thank You.

Ive only recently found your channel, and its quickly become my top favourites. Youre so incredibly driven, genuine and theres just something about you thats so one of a kind and enjoyable to watch even without something big and flashy happening. I cant imagine how much effort and time goes into your day to day- then add filming, editing etc its incredible you pull it all off. Such a shame as well to see youtube's not giving you the time to shine that you deserve. Truly hope that picks up and we never lose you on here- not many people like you left now a days and just the glimpses of it is so refreshing.

If the wild dogs there are anything like coyotes here, and you don't take lead bitch out first. She'll more than likely stay away from the smell of her pups blood. It maybe couple months before she starts the route again, or may never, but as we both know. She may keep running the same path, but vary slightly to avoid that one place by a hundred feet if there's a trail or wash near by to give her cover. I'm kinda fond of my 700 BDL 264 Win Mag in 140 grain. Old caliber from late 50's into early 70's, then everyone talked bad about barrel burnout. That and the 300 mag came out, and everyone went that way. Funny thing is I got it from my uncle who bought it new, and he used it here in Texas, and was his favorite iron for the mountains of Colorado. I got it in the early 70's when I was just a kid around 14 after he got to where he couldn't hunt anymore. I saved for two summers to get his price for it, and for my $100.00 dollars of hard earned money back then. I got the rifle, the wooden case he'd made for it. A fixed 4X scope bought new with the rifle, the sling to shoulder it. A gun cleaning kit with a bunch of extras he had, and 5 boxes of Remington shells. Plus I think every box of empty hulls he'd shot through it. Up graded to a Leopold long ago, but I'm sure I've shoot enough rounds along with all those he ran through it to have smoked the barrel long time ago, buy she still holds true as long as she's not mistreated by being dropped or something like that. The rifling looks as good as when I got her fifty years back, and if you try running 5 or 6 rounds through her in the heat of Texas summers.. Yeah that stainless steel barrel will be hot enough to burn your hand if you aren't careful, but 110 degrees in the shade. That's expected I'd say, and you don't have to aim at the sky over what your aiming at like you do with 30/06, 300 or any number of calibers everybody claims is best. 243 is good load for small critters, and I have one myself well grand son has it now far as that goes, and I've shoot number of deer with it. It just doesn't have the ability to reach out there with the knock down ability as the 264 has. Yes Sir seen gates like that, but best one was down south Texas close to the border. Has a post about 8" round planted deep that was cut at the top to a point. Then there was another piece of a tree about 6" round, and 14' long had a flat spot cut into it where it sat on top of the one in the ground. It hung past the upright post about 3' feet and had a piece of wire tied around the end of it that went down to a fairly good sized rock tied to the wire. Across from the pivot post was another post about 8" that the fence going the other way was tied to, and it had a limb cut off that was at the right height for the cross bar to sit on. All it took was one hand and you could swing it outta of the way to where there was another post with limb cut off for it to sit in until you were through the gate. Then swing it back closed and you were off, and the wind blows here a lot at pretty good speed. If you didn't have the other post with the limb to hold it or someone with you to hold it open. Well you get the picture I'm sure, and it was old from the looks of the wood it was made from, but it was only one like it on that ranch. All the others were metal gates with chains to keep them closed So i guess that one had survived for who knows how long, and since it worked fine wasn't a need to change it out. Nice bunch of pups you got taken cars of you. Luck on the wild ones

Looking at these videos and listening to how you tell it, I reckon that livestock are only a fairly minor component of these dogs' diet. Most of what they're eating is going to be small mammals and reptiles plus some scavenging. Therefore the squeaker ought to work fairly well, some drags and carrion ought to work passably, and not listening to blowhards (like myself) on the other side of the world is also a fairly good move ;) Really I think rather like you: these dogs are roving around their home range, trying not to hit any one area hard unless there's a superabundance of food there. With livestock they've got a big problem: yes there's plenty of food but there's also plenty of humans and humans without exception are trouble. The local "always present" ones are a known threat but they tend to show up on a schedule. Then there's this new one who seems to have a pack of other dogs with him. Bloody weird dogs, those are; you can smell them all over the place at times then they seem to just vanish into thin air then turn up strong as anything somewhere else; for animals as strongly reliant on scent as dogs are, someone with three collies in a vehicle must be a mental challenge and then some. Then there's the fact that this new human isn't just associated with cows but roves all over the place, and these new interesting smells just keep on turning up all over the place. Then pack members start getting caught in traps and so for the remaining dogs they're probably thinking "Yikes, this place is suddenly dangerous and all humans are suddenly REALLY bad news, because the things that catch us smell of humans". So they go hunt somewhere else, and as calves are in no way a regular food but more a sort of serendipitous Sunday treat they don't really miss hunting calves.
