From the USA. French accents are very charming. Its nothing to be ashamed of. I can't speak French. I wish I could speak French because it is a beautiful language. When I attended high school in the 1960's, I took French classes. I was good at reading and writing in French but could never speaak French. Till today at eh age of 72 I regret never becoming fluent in the French language. Recently, on American TV they are playinf French TV shows with English subtitles - Astrid, Nina, the Paris Murders. I wtch them all. I am glued to my TV and hope that some of the language will stick in my brain. So I applaud you for learning English. Being bilingual is a very important skill in this day and age..

I’ve been teaching myself French for 5 months. I have about 800 words. Reading and writing are way easier than speaking French. I like your accent. I’ve heard that French people feel self conscious about their accent when they speak English but for us the USA we like accents a lot. I have no particular reason to learn French but I’m really enjoying the challenge. People don’t speak French in my state, if they have a 2nd language it’s Spanish. I also love your eyeglasses. They would great on me but don’t worry I’ll find my own pair. You’re safe. This is only the 2nd video of your’s I’ve watched but I’ll watch a lot more and I subscribed. Merci.

I’m a new subscriber to your channel. Embrace your accent. Majority of people love hearing how the French talks. I love the French language and hearing it spoken. Yes don't give up on this! I've met people who learned French by themselves, it's possible, even if the pronunciation is difficult, we know it's not the easiest language so don't be shy about it !

I think that English spoken with a French accent sounds better than French spoken with an American accent. I'm constantly working on my French pronunciation because I want to be understood by the French people, and I have gotten to a point where when I ask something in French, the French don't respond to me in English.

You have a good level ! Yes, I think the American accent is more smooth in the syllables, and French people won't hear all the sounds 😅

I'm Swedish and some years ago I wanted to hide my accent, to sound like an American. Nowadays I don't care, if anything I want a stronger accent because me being Swedish is a part of me and there's no reason for me to hide it:) Same goes for any other language, the only thing which is important is that you are understood!

As an immigrant in France, this is hopefully a 2 way thing, if French people learn to not be scared how they sound when they speak a language they don't speak well, maybe they will be more permissive of foreigners that are trying to learn French but kinda "butchering" it, us foreigners/immigrants are criticized or laughed at so much when trying to speak it in public that we get scared to continue, but we have to get over it because if we don't we get criticized too for that, lol, it's so F'n annoying. Where I grew up there was a HUGE immigrant population form all over the world, and yes, they were "butchering" English, but we weren't rude about it, we encouraged them, and usually within a few months they weren't fluent but they could communicate and could be understood.

You are right ! If there are so annoying about people trying to speak French it's because they are too insecure when they speak another language!

I feel ya. I like things that try to be global. I love French but I love that you chose to do things in English. Btw I do think that if one really really wants, they can "hide" their accent eventually

I'm planning to go on vacation on Paris next year but I heard french people will ignore you when you ask them for help like directions. Will me learning basic French help? I'm southeast Asian and look exactly like one so I don't know if french people will still talk to me. 😭

use google maps haha, don't rely on directions from people, maps helped me a lot! and yes learn basic french (:

French people will ignore everyone so it's not about you, they are just prudent because usually when people come to talk to us in the streets it's to ask for money or something, so they ignore 😭 But you can still find many people ready to help if you need, but don't hesitate to use Google maps as people are not always good to give directions 😅
