The engine update has absulutely NOTHING to do with the trades. Its an intentional timing they give all players. Its literally a number in the code that they can change at any time. It was actually not that bad at some point but then they increased time window for some stupid reason at some point. Kills get resolved locally in this game and then send to the server, unlike in CSGO where they are handled server side. So they let someone with a low ping(or not) kill you because the message that they are dead arrives at their PC after they killed you. The timer with this kind of system has to be AT LEAST as long as it takes for the message that they are dead to arrive at their PC. So even without any additional time added by Crytek it would already end up in some traits but they add even more time on top of that.
