'Never call me 'mum!' Those were the words of my mother after she found a new husband!

Wanja remembers her childhood so vividly. Her mother re-married when she was about six years. Her very own mother denied her a chance to go to school and instead turned her into a slave working for her elder step sisters. At her age, she would cook, clean and take food to her step sisters in school.
As if that was not enough, her mum forbid her from ever calling her 'mum' and instead ordered her to be referring to her as 'aunt.' All these, was meant to conceal that she was her child to her mother's new found husband!

Wanja's story is really a shocking one. To imagine that she was put through that torture by her own mother, is so heartbreaking. May this story reach all the women who abandon their children in the name of a new found love, marriage. May we learn, that trying to keep the so called marriage at the expense of our children's well being, is like chasing the wind! Do you really think that man will love you and trust you if you have abandoned your very own blood? This kind of selfishness displayed by some women must be discouraged at all means. You brought a child to this world, take care of them. We applaud Wanja for her boldness...for speaking on behalf of thousands of children, who face rejection by the very same parents who bore them. And if we were such mothers and fathers...may we find the courage to sincerely reach out to our children and sincerely apologise to them...just before our time on earth is up! Crying as I listen to this coz this is the story of my life. I went through it in the hands of my real aunt though its my mum who had taken me there coz she got married. 😢😢😢😢. I thank God for the neighbours who came to my rescue. To my shock instead of living with my mum, she enrolled me to a boarding school in class 3. That is another story all together. Weeee am a parent now but I can never trust any one I mean any one with my children. So in short my kids don't visit relatives without me. They don't go for sleep overs

Am a woman with grown up children. I simply cant imagine how a mother can treat her own child this way. Wanja may God remember you.

Nancy, I am very sorry about your experience with your mom. You are very strong, what could have killed you only made you strong and that's why you are sharing your experience. I have no words for your mom. No words.

This is soo rampant in Kikuyu Land who bewitched us women! As a mother why would you do this? I hope we get one to tell us why choose a Man over your own child.
