Focusing too much on the 【accuracy of human anatomy】 will sometimes hinder 【creative flow】. It feels much better for an artist to follow through intuition.
sensei, what you have stated in the video is absolutely brilliant, i often lose my way running behind the correct answer and trying to be what a people call a "perfectionist". I soon realise that there is no perfect in Drawing and we must always have fun doing what we love the most. Thank you sensei ❤

Spending too much time on the drawing is so true! I tend to get so carried away with rendering I lose the sight of the end goal, which is to make just a nice looking, uncomplicated piece. As a result I get bored or irritated that the amount of work doesn't seem to end. This is why I don't like to draw too many details.

You're so right about how a picture becomes boring if you spend too much time on it (unless you're very skilled and know exactly what you're doing lol). I used to spend days polishing some pieces and it'd become very stiff and awful. My art improved considerably when I started setting time limits and doing timed practice. I'm not as good a teacher as Naoki-sensei, but in my opinion learning to set deadlines is what will make you improve most as an artist.
Naoki-Sensei, I just wanted to say that your channel was what helped get over my frustration over being bad at drawing and starting think of it more positively and see that I'm in fact capable. I can't draw now due to back issues but I'll soon return to it. I'm also learning Japanese now! Thank you for everything ❤

I love how these videos are edited, especially the on-screen text, it feels like a TV segment. Takeaways: Make one small change with every painting and let your style evolve. Do simple, smaller, and shorter drawing sessions to build endurance and skills for longer works. Don't criticize others, or you will become hurt yourself. Read books to look at others' processes and thoughts, and think about the questions raised. Enjoy art as playing and do the "wrong" things - don't always try to be "correct" with every drawing.
Thank you for your valuable insights and tips. I strive to be an artist like you. Maybe one day I can be in a good enough position to help others also 😊
I always apply step 1 because I only draw to experiment something new, it's not hard to do because I think like that at a fundamental level : I enjoy trying new things, like a new costume or new pose ! Drawing old things is only to challenge my memory : "drawing from imagination" but it doesn't add new things so I don't really improve when I do that, it's only sketching for fun sometime

Hello, Naoki Saito, one person from Russia writes to you and says that he really likes your videos. After I watched this video, I found some answers to my internal questions and torments. Lately, I've been finding myself thinking, "Drawing is getting boring. Drawing doesn't bring me pleasure, I'm disgusted by what comes out." A couple of your tips helped me cope with these bad thoughts and now I feel a little better. However, I'm still confused, I honestly can't answer clearly, but I feel like I'm stuck in my own drawing. Many of my classmates from the college where I study say how great it is My work is coming out in the anime style, how interesting the characters that I draw in my sketchbook are, but I find a lot of mistakes in them and the feeling from what people tell me begins to bring a certain feeling that I am an “imposter” or that I am being mocked. It's like everyone is hiding the fact that my work is bad, they're just trying to hide it under praise. I tried to experience the experiences of others, seek advice and simply find out what other artists think about similar things through their blogs, personal communication, projects they were involved in like manga. But I'm still struggling to get better at drawing and overcome all these bad thoughts. But honestly, I think I have a long way to go before I can say “I'm really good at drawing.” And thank you for helping me get to this point.

Thank you Mr. Saito. Helpful explaining, as usual 😊
