Mine took 40 plus minutes to remove… it just wouldn’t come out & the anaesthetic injection stopped working half way through… read so many comments on other posts that they didn’t even feel a thing but I felt ill & traumatised throughout the whole procedure. If you’ve yet to have your treatment I genuinely hope it goes well & you feel less pain than I did 😢

Happened to me. But wouldn't come out. Had to leave the chair with my tooth still intact but half pulled out and lopsided. Now on strong pain killers and waiting for sedation. 😢😢😢

@@wendyhunnisett6671 ohh no you poor luv 😢 that sounds so traumatic, I had to go back a few weeks later as I was in so much pain and found he’d left a chunk of tooth behind and so had to have a second extraction and restart the whole healing process again… I’m finally healed and so grateful the whole sorry incident is behind me. I genuinely hope you find some relief in the coming weeks 😔

Cancelled 3 dentist appointments ...cause i was scared to extract 2 wisdom tooth ...used to try n ignore the tooth ace....But finally i prayed and i build up d courage and went to extract ...booth tooth was removed n i didnt even know ..not a pain insight....dont b scared as me just go get it done

I just had 5 tooth extracted at once today... 😢 It didn't hurt because my dentist is great; at least the extractions didn't hurt. I will learn if it will hurt tonight since these were the top ones, especially in the front!!!

I just had #31 pulled, but the "dentist" put bone graft in there with the plan to fill it in a few months from now with an implant. The entire ordeal took over 4 hours because he was trying to pull a tooth with a live nerve/root still in it! Then he had the audacity to say that I had a low pain tolerance!! NO WONDER PEOPLE HATE GOING TO THE DENTIST! Anyone else have any similar experiences?

@kattmilk after multiple shots to my mouth, and waiting forever.....he went in, the whole tooth extraction itself took maybe 5 minutes or a little more(but not alot). It was infected, but he didn't prescribe any antibiotics...maybe because I took some about 2wks ago because of the pain and swelling from it. Lots of pulling, breaking, pressure. Now I'm sore, and can barely open my mouth.

One of my bottom front teeth had to be pulled (on 9/10). I was in the dentist chair from 11:30 until 12:30. My tooth broke in two and the procedure was extremely painful and I ended up requiring stitches. I have had extractions in the past by other dentists and was in and out in very little time and didn't feel any degree of pain. In my mind I proclaimed NEVER AGAIN! If I need to get another one done I will ask for a oral surgeon and for sedation because I will not subject myself to another painful and traumatic ordeal. My dentist is allowed to clean my teeth and give me fillings and x-rays from now on. Ironically it was the first time I had an extraction done there and will be my last. I know she wasn't hurting me purposefully but it took a lot of self restraint on my part even when I started to fear that she was about to break my jawbone. I know that there are risks of course but the thought came to me and all I could do was pray that wouldn't happen. Thankfully it didn't.

I would love to know, I tilt my head, keep my mouth slightly opened and alow the saliva to slowly drain out. I don't know if that is acceptable.

It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t spit at all. You can spit but do not use force to spit, as it may dislodge the clot.

Late reply intended to help others: don't brush the area where you had the extraction. My post-surgical instructions told me to rinse with antiseptic mouthwash 4-5x a day. I move my head from side to side/nod/shake and let it fall out once I'm done.

Gentle brushing just to clean debris should be the motto. Otherwise the clot might infected.

Never! You have to brush gently over the site of extraction. Otherwise food gets lodged and infects the clot.

You can spit, but…. Without too much force. So that the clot is undisturbed , that too only for the first 24 hours. So that clot gets stabilized.

It was extremely traumatic I thought she’d never get it out and painful, I had 8 injections as it was infected. The dentist did take my gauze out after 3 mins as it wasn’t bleeding. But bloody hell does it still hurt even with ibuprofen, paracetamol and codeine. £400 quid and a tooth lighter.

Never! Carbonated drinks contain effervescence which may dislodge the clot. Cold drinks which are non carbonated should be your choice. I think there might be a misunderstanding there.
