Little tips as a dyed red haired random! Cold showers : hot water makes it fade away faster Red shampoo and/or conditioner : puts on colour to keep the brightness of the dye and maintain the tone. It's a treatment you need to do from the start. You can't really bring the lost dye back. If you wanted to have your red as vibrant, you'd need to dye it again and treat it regularly :)

I want to add, I know not everyone can do this but I trained my hair so I only have to wash it once a week. The longer you go between washes the longer you get out of each salon visit!

It didn't do very much because these color maintaining shampoos/conditioners are meant to maintain the red over a period of time, not color it. They don't actually deposit color, they just help keep the same color tones in your hair and help the already placed color last longer. It's kind of the same thing that purple shampoo does for blonde hair, except purple is used to cancel out orange/brassy tones (you can also use green shampoo to tone out red). If you use these shampoos for much longer then suggested they can have a bit more color brightening effect and can make the existing color seem brighter, but it can be damaging to hair to leave them on too long. But tbh you can see a difference between the before and after, the after one looks more evenly colored.

Repigmenting red mask by the brand B-app is great to give back a vibrant red. I put it after shampoo akd conditioner and let it sit for 15 min (they advise 3/4 minutes so do it at your own risk). It gives a sort of vibrant red. Pros : the price, it really make the hair red without using hair dye and developper or spend money at the salon VS Cons : it dries up the hair (maybe thats why they advise 3/4 min), but overall it does not give your your original red colour. I glad for a dark red, and it just makes it a vibrant red .

Look at older red cars. They oxidize and fade way faster than other colors. This was the first thing I learned in beauty school. It looks so pretty, but it’s definitely high maintenance.

If you want to color refresh red hair, Wella's Color Fresh Mask Red is amazinggg. I had my hair dyed red in March then use the red mask for 10 minutes every 2-3 weeks and it's now Nov I still have bright red hair (not as great as 1st month but still quite vibrant) though I plan to finally have it dyed again this month.

Use henna instead. Mix it with tea water and 1tsp hair oil and leave it overnight and then apply it. And leave on for 3-4 hours then shower It works and is healthy for your hair

red hair for two years here. i use punky color in fire. leave it on 30 min. rinse with cold water no shampoo only conditioner. don’t wash hair for at least 48 hours and when u do only use cold water. then i wash only every 5 days. it’s miserable but it works
