I rent until such time when I can afford to buy a car, I’ll park it in my garage and put the battery and wheels elsewhere and double lol lock the steering wheel plus put a top alarm that immobilizes the car. Max, I have explained to the Pastor of the Star and relatives. We pay taxes, sales tax, property tax, tax on services, we pay toll if you drive to work. You have a few states that pay no taxes on shoes and clothes. You pay no tax on meat, veggies and fruits. Some people like teachers where I live get pay once a month. We have to pay income tax. Some people are single mothers. They don't care to understand, some do not even want to hear the system in North America. Many people I know have a full time job and a side hustle.

i know better..the other day a friend of mine she live on a cay.. loaned her car out too her friend so her friend could take her own kids too school..the car broke down she told her friend too get the car fix and her friend didn't fix her car..her friend went and bought her own car and never fix my friend car..causes them too fall out and now my friend is back on the island and stranded because her friend didn't fix the car and now she is so mad now without transportation and guess what the engine gone as you say

If that's what you did, stop doing that. It's cheaper to rent a car when you are there. If they drive it they mash it up and if you leave it park it rusty and won't work. Rent a car.
