I have never been moved by watching anyone except you Mike, I've been looking into competitive Bass fishing for about 4 years now. I was so close to meeting you at the Classic this year, I was actually at the boat ramp on the first day and saw you doing an interview, It took me a couple seconds to process that you were standing right there, Just the fact that my hero was standing 10 feet away from me was just an amazing feeling. I didn't get to meet you this time but hopefully I'll get to compete against you someday... growing up in Connecticut, you give me so much influence and inspiration. I really just need to say Thank you, Keep up the great work out there Mike.

I can't speak for anyone else. But personally, my love for fishing. My desire to adventure through life chasing fish. Started when I was watching the 2003 Classic. I was 12, I remember it was on ESPN, and I remember my parents looking at me like I was crazy sitting for hours watching people fish on TV. But you're inspiration and their support was enough to make fishing a part of who I am and what makes me happy. Watching this series is like rereading Fishing on the Edge.

I was 6 years old when me and my dad were headed back from a vacation we could barely afford, and we had planned a week or so ahead of time knowing the classic was going on in Louisiana, as we were headed back to onalaska, texas. We stopped and watched you win the classic….that day changed my life. Truly an inspiration to people across the bass fishing community. Legend of the sport. 😎

This is a cool series. Mike isn’t shy about laying his feelings on his career and life out there for the world to see. If you think about it, not many guys in our sport are willing to do that. People were so critical of how he came across to the bass fishing fans and sponsors after his Classic win, but we finally got to see those emotional highs and lows that a competitive angler goes through displayed for all the world to see. Ike is super authentic, super cool, and a super angler. He’s forever changed the game. And Mike? That brostache is a sweet look man! Keep on crushing it buddy!!

I was a sophomore in college when Ike won the classic and that set me and my friends on fire for fishing. Ike did an interview where he was asked about music and he said he had been listening to a rapper named 50 cent. I thought this dude is not like the old timers I grew up watching, he’s like me and my friends. We would be wading the creek and scream like fools if we caught a fish. As far as I’m concerned no one has had more of impact on fishing.

Isn't it crazy how things have changed in the last 19 years or so?! NASCAR is a shell of its former self. ESPN sold BASS in 2010. MLF of course, and then back to BASS for many. KZbinrs with tresspassing videos on FL golf courses draw millions of views. And despite all the efforts to grow fishing over the last few decades, we now have more anglers due to covid. Who would have thought?!
