Never Have Lifted Vinyl Again On Your Tumblers Or Pens

After creating, printing, weeding and applying vinyl to your creation it can be so discouraging for it to lift on the edges after you epoxy! Even if I would spray with 2x ultra clear Matt it would still lift. I want to show you what I do so that I never have lifted vinyl anymore :)

I really want to try this, but I’m kinda scared! I don’t have the spray, only the regular clear E6000. So I’m afraid it won’t dry clear. Especially since the background of my tumbler is white and the vinyl in question is black. I’m scared it’ll show once I epoxy. Thoughts?

Don’t use the regular e6000. The one I use is more like an Elmer’s glue. It seals the edges and dries clear. The I spray with the clear spray paint. It’s the only steps that I could figure out to stop my vinyl from lifting.

Thanks for the video. One question after you spray the pen you say to then apoxy it. So, this is a step you don’t show but needs to be done after the spray?

Yes. That is correct you have to seal it with epoxy. It may take you a couple of coats of epoxy to get a smooth surface.

Thank you. Do you ever seal these type of decal? Going to be trying to make large vinyl type stickers adhere in a professional way to some small waste paper bins, to sell potentially. Any advice?I love your pen idea, btw!

Hi Jenny thanks for watching. If you are talking about the waterslide I do seal it with clear spray paint before I epoxy. If you are talking about vinyl, get a permanent vinyl and I think you will be fine without sealing it. I have seen some cups made with permanent vinyl and nothing over it and it stood up great even in the dishwasher. I just feel for a cup it looked unfinished and wanted so badly to teach the creator to use epoxy or crystalac to help with the finished look. For a waste paper bin I think it would look fine. Happy creating.

@@JanGarciaRN Thanks for your reply. I'm very new to this world, and as a vinyl novice I don't know what permanent vinyl is. Not using homemade images, but freeze type wall decals from China. Look well made, but I don't know if they'll stick fast over time on plastic surfaces. Some research suggests adding a decoupage adhesive like Modpodge under them, and possibly to seal also.

Yes. I painted it white. Then I put on one coat of epoxy with white mica in it. No glitter in this pen yet. I applied the water slide then sealed with 2x ultra clear, then added name decal, E6000 then another coat of 2x ultra clear. Epoxied over them both with a coat of epoxy with ultra fine glitter in it to make it sparkly. Sometimes 2 coats of epoxy to get smooth finish. Just depends. . Hope that helps. Jan

Does the e6000 dull the color of the vinyl?

No. But The only one it may make look a bit cloudy is your shiny holographic vinyl so I make sure to wipe the glue off with a bit of alcohol or even water or baby wipe before using the ultra Matt clear spray. Really your only using the glue to seal the edges otherwise everything looks perfect after the epoxy. Matt clear spray alone is not enough. The vinyl will lift.
