we are not born to keep on working working without breaks..what is the point of working like slaves when we cannot even take time off atleast for 3 months of our life? yes it is okay to take a break for 6 months and revive our career..there are people who had 10 years gap entered into IT..nowadays companies only want the relevant skills experience and quick joiners..

The problem these days is the notice period is for 3 months and most of the companies are not willing to wait for that long. Hence I had revenge quit my previous company and got a new job within 7 days with 65% hike and double promoted role. It was pure bliss to tell the same to the senior management when they tried to convince me to stay back 😅. For once in my life I felt like living in a Rajinikanth movie 🎥

never understood why everyone says don't quit without a job in hand. I quit 4 months before because of toxic culture...prepared for 2 months ...gave few interviews. Rejected few of them because of bad reviews on culture or no remote opportunities. Still giving interviews and enjoying life- travelling and cricket. Management individual- 3 years of work ex...infact this time gave me a lot of peace and to reflect on many things and get better in them- health wise, mentally and spiritually. I have even seen on linkedin people taking few months of break for travelling or for some other reason. Have no family to support and no loan. Never understood why one can't take a break...our job is just a business relationship with the company.

I was carrying 16 yrs of experience at the time I faced a similar situation during Covid. Due to my bigger experience I was always certain that something like this may occur some time or the other and covid just accentuated it. What worked for me was that I had switched companies every 2 yrs and increased my package, my loans were actually nil, and I had taken huge risks by investing a bigger portion of my salaries in the equities & MF starting from 2017. When I got the pink slip, the company too gave me 3 months salary amounting to 12 lakhs. My pf has grown overtime amounting to 40 lakhs which is getting compounded. The equities portion has more than doubled improving my financial situation. Now there is no looking back. Since 2021 I’ve been working as a freelancer, working on my passions, travelling, taking care of my health , nutrition and enjoying time with my new born.

If your work culture and boss is very toxic better to leave without offer. The damage happens far bigger and has mental implications. Better to leave take a break, plan what is your strength and weakness then decide and give yourself a love and care . Money and jobs will come and go but our life is only one. Because managers will judge you without a job. Agreed. But instead of asking employees to work like slaves in toxic environments, why don't you have the spine to tell bosses to stop judging employees? Because you don't have the spine to say anything to managers. Being an ex-manager yourself you will do what other managers in our country do - just keep milking employees like sugarcane.

In my view nothing like that..we are not slaves, one should definitely take a break or quit if he/she is being ill-treated..we can take breaks for 5_6 months provided WE DON'T TAKE UNNECESSARY LOANS AND PAY HEFTY EMIs for depreciating assets..keep it simple..also there's a need of establishing alternate income source..one needs to get it sorted fixed before 35..people in IT spend too much on luxury goods and depreciating assets, end up paying EMIs year after year and get stressed about loosing jobs

A person is entitled to take a break if he or she burnt out from all the work pressure and even there is no work pressure a person should be able to quit his/her job. There is a life outside job which a person should enjoy if he/she wants. And sorry to say if you don't have good skills and are not able to prove yourself, your won't get a job even when you have a job in hand and even if you get a job it won't be very different from your current job - salary wise as well as culture wise. And this is very bullshit to say that those who are not able to prepare for another job deserve their current work env or salary, it will just make people more anxious and scared and make them compromise their life with toxic work environment. You have a platform use it wisely, don't use it to make people anxious. The IT industry has changed a lot and more companies are willing to hire people with skills even if they had a career break. And those companies who are not willing to hire such employees, believe me, you also don't want to be part of such companies.

But what about IT employees who struggle at work in spite of trying honestly? Everyone is not a pro at grasping new concepts before time and performing exceptionally at all the tasks. But mid level employees are expected to be pitch perfect super humans by their managers. Survival of the fittest works in the IT industry and you have to adjust accordingly. Either you try or you are out in a jiffy. So the point that he made was harsh but it is the reality unfortunately.

Not a good advice. 1. Companies schedule interviews from Monday- Friday, u can't take sick leaves often. Taking leaves often make u look untrustable. 2. Companies will not accept 3 months notice period , will not wait longer. 3. Not able to perform well in interview as well in current job due to 2 jobs since preparing itself is another job. 4. Jobs with Automation, developer requires tons of preparation. 5. Being in a job and searching for job is only suitable for lead and managers who just delegate their work.

@@codeaffection10 right man, but then people start cursing these companies seeing low salary vs what they get from client, so why not choose unstable company and salary beyond your expectation? Anyways, we stay for 3-5years max.

I cannot completely agree on this ! Big companies might be having good culture but people who works their don’t have ! they feel as if they are the CEO’s of that big brands , and don’t welcome the new comers properly I always feel small and mid level organisations value an employee lot based on their skill sets and interests also management working in tier 2and tier 3 companies are grounded people and respect their time too
