I have owned this Cliq chair for about four years. No, I don't backpack with it. I either car camp or store it in my motorcycle top box. I'm 5-8, 175 pounds. I find it extremely comfortable. Yes, I'm in a more prone position than other chairs I own like Helix, REI, etc. I had one issue where two of the bolts came out and Cliq quickly sent me four more. Other than that I really like the chair. Appreciate the sewn-in slot for my phone as I'm sitting. None of the fabric has degraded or frayed at all. When I stop to take in the sights and have lunch on my motorcycle, it's really a comfy thing. Out among the redwoods I love it.

I'm a product design engineer, and I can tell you that there are very very few real product design engineers. Most of the things I pick up today look like no one ever actually used the product they designed, because literally ONE use would reveal a host of problems!

As a person whose not a product designer, but wishes I was, I’ve thought about this a lot lately. There’s so many products that I’ve wondered how it actually gets out of production and I just wish I could be a part of designing some of this stuff.

@@steveb6444 Steve, To be honest, the degree in engineering didn't make me a good designer. It just gave me the tools to implement my ideas. Common sense made me a good designer. Mostly what these companies need is someone like you or Luke with some common sense! Some companies do hire "beta testers" to use products and give feedback on design. If you think you have something to offer, I would contact the manufacturer and see what they say.

I have the predecessor to the Cliq Chair; the Go Chair. Both were sold on Indiegogo; the "crowdfunding" site for new products. I bought the Go Chair about 8 years ago. Exactly the same chair, just the name changed. It was good for it's time, compact and stable. I agree that it feels "weird" for an adult, but works great for my son and daughter who are younger than 15 and less than 150 lbs. Not lightweight, but very sturdy. I keep it in the truck and use it when the kids need a chair to sit in. It's nice that it is one piece and doesn't need a carry bag.

Purchased 2 Cliq chairs 5+ years ago on a crowd funding site. The 2 chairs came with a storage bag. Your review is exactly how I feel about the chairs, they are not to most comfortable. You do slouch sitting in this chair. Used them quite often while camping and at the beach. They have held up well and are very easy to set up. Using them at the beach is nice because they can be adjusted by pushing the legs into the sand to find the most comfortable position.

I too recently purchased this because it was on discount for $75. I'm 6'9" and you nailed it! I have to use this more as a stool than chair because I'll fall backwards if I sit back. Only reason I'm keeping it is it fits conveniently on the back of my motorcycle for work.
@victoriabrockman54736 ай бұрын
I have 2 of them that I purchased about 4 years ago. They gave me the carrying case that fits both and I paid $60 a piece. I haven't had any problems with them. I use them for motorcycle camping and find them extremely comfortable. The height is also really nice, in that it is taller than those midget backpacking chairs, and slightly shorter than the $5 full size festival chairs; so I never feel like I'm sitting in a kids chair or towering over other people when camping. They generally stay in my car for extra seating when visiting friends, and toss them in the saddlebag when I'm out on the bike. I haven't noticed any issue with sitting upright, or leaning back with my feet kicked out. The wide feet and heavy legs on the chair keep it from falling over in a breeze before I can sit in it, and I haven't had them sink into the dirt while using them. All in all, a nice chair.

Thanks for doing this review, good to see others thoughts. I bought 4 of these and got a free bag a couple years ago. They were like $35-$40 at the time. Surprised too see they are $100+ now. We use the mainly for car camping and like you said sitting at soccer games. The one thing I noticed is the rivets that hold up the chair get loose over time and the seat kind of rocks. Its a pro and con at times. I don't get the leg digging back into my legs, maybe I never noticed and it loosened. Overall the best part of these chairs is we can keep them in a front seat or a trunk and they hardly take-up space and are quick to setup and go. Thanks!

Hey, Luke, I bought a pair a couple of years a ago. But about a year later, a bolt came off from the leg joint that attaches to the main hub and then a couple months ago the on the bolt other chair went missing too. I replaced both bolts (Home Depot) by matching one from the other leg attachment. All the other parts seem durable but they need to design those bolt to not come loose. I do agree with you on your assessment on comfortability. I would rate the chair a six out of ten for easy to set up but I would rate three for comfortability and durability.

I’ve had mine for almost 4 years and I only recommend it to friends when I can show them the fail points. Im not purchasing another one. I’m 5’11 220lbs and mine lives in my car and has only been used on level ground for camping. The nylon where the posts fit in will fail and eventually punch through. The dimples where the posts connect to the hub aren’t deep enough so after a while you’ll be able to pull the posts out of the hub. You can connect them back and it will work but if i wanted that inconvenience I’d just buy the same style chair as the camo chair he has in the video. I was in love with it for the first 2 years but quickly fell out of love with it and they have a 2 year warranty so no going to them for replacements for me.

I bought myself one, which was kind of an expensive mistake . It is quite a bit faster then my other older design. But it is also heavier and does not come with a carry case so I had to rig something up when I go for a walk. (I don't like sitting on the ground because of the deer ticks.) Mine was a little bit stiff so locking it in place takes a bit of effort. A choice between this chair and my older chair which is lighter weight? I guess I would choose this one. I think the material digging into the back of your legs is highly dependent on your height/leg length. I'm 5'-9". I find the basic Cliq chair very comfortable and do not notice anything digging into the back of legs. I also have a Cliq Lounge chair. I find the material digs into the back of my legs a bit on the Lounge. This is because the front of the Lounge chair is higher than the standard Cliq chair. So, my feet/lower legs do not raise my upper legs enough.

I suspect that the seating position is common to this style of chairs to more evenly distribute the user’s weight between all four poles. If you tipped it more upright, a disproportionate amount of the user’s weight would be carried by the front two supports, and the weight rating would have to be reduced, or the front supports would have to be beefed up/reinforced adding weight size and cost, to prevent failure. The seating position looks identical to every other chair I can think of, including my OneTigris chair.

Hope they get the angle of the chair worked out, love the idea!

Was looking to get a comfortable chair, and I have seen this chair on Amazon, but I decided to skip it. What recommendations do you have that you would suggest? Thx

I bought a very small folding tripod seat so I don’t have to sit on the ground when backpacking, about a foot long, few inches in diameter, bag, about $20-25. Otherwise I like the Ozark folding camping chair Walmart sells for trailer camping. No use for the chair you showed but thanks.

I don't like any chair that causes pressure to my legs. I had a similar chair and I gave it away. My favorite camp chair was purchased at Costco for $37. It has a high back with a pillow headrest. It takes just a minute to set up. I actually fell asleep in it while fishing as it is quite comfortable.

??? Enjoyed this video and the honest review. I’d like to know what the other chair is? Thank you.

I bet the marketer who told you about the chair is now looking kinda foolish. Bet he didn't expect you to be so honest. Prolly thought you'd gush over it.

Because we all know that's what's really going on when random folks send you stuff or ask you to review a product; it's because they're connected to it somehow, either because they're selling it, marketing it, or produce it.

Some people send me stuff just so I can break it. 😅

Nobody uses the stuff he reviews anyway. It's mostly all heavy and garbage.

@MG-ze3lf seriously? If you don't have anything decent to say, move your butt on. Don't bother replying because I don't read them haha

I can't believe you did not tell us the name of the other chair in the video not did you put it in your gear links below. Can you please tell us what it is? Thanks. It looks perfect for what I want.😁

I wonder if you can sit in it without clicking the lower part out?

Would someone taller, say 6-0 to 6-1 with longer legs not have the leg issue you mentioned?

I would choose the Big Agnes stool/chair you use instead, as they are both in the same price range.

Can you please do a review of a gazelle tent?

You just saved me buying this. That back will kill mine!!

If I saw this on Amazon, I doubt I would “cliq” the buy button!

Looks like a solid product for light-duty use. At ~3 pounds I wouldn't say it's truly a dealbreaker for backpack camping, doubly so since it collapses so small.

I reckon you'd really like the compactness of the 'Uquip Three Sixty Mini Folding Tripod Swivel Stool'. It folds up similar to this CLIQ chair, but allows you to lean forward and swivel... They're sold in-store at Globetrotter Outdoor stores across Germany ad Scandinavia, as such, I know the company is confident on its durability...

well, just picked one up at the local Goodwill for $6.99. So far, it's worth every penny 😂 Honestly, though, I own about 4-5 other simlarly sized camp chairs (all of which are much lighter), and I don't find this chair any less comfortable than any other chair I own; my experience is that these sorts of smaller chairs are just going to be somewhat less compfortable than a full sized chair and that's just sort of how it is. I honestly don't think this chair is worth anywhere near $100 bucks, but it's well-made and does what it sets out to do.
