I lived in a Swedish, German, Italian and Portuguese community during the fall of the Berlin Wall. I was about ten years old and I remember having to stay inside and not being able to go to school because my grandfather had fought in WWII. Most of the children in my community had grandparents who had served during that war as well. I just remember being told to speak good thoughts because the Wall had divided families. My Grandfather never had to speak of the war until that day when Marine officers came to our door.

i had the worst travelling experience ever with airberlin recently. on the way to berlin my bags went missing for four days, and i couldn't get in contact with anyone to find out what was going on. they literally have no customer service whatsoever. we racked up an 100 euro bill on the hotel phone trying to call them non stop for two hours. i pushed it to the very last day i could but then i had to go and buy everything in my suitcase again because i was starting uni and i had nothing with me, and then it came the day after :-))))) and then on my way back to melbourne from berlin they wouldn't let me get on my flight because they said i wasn't in their system.. we called emirates and they spoke to the lady at airberlin and said "she should be on your system, i can see her here. let her on the flight. i can reissue the ticket and you can print it out and she can get on" and the airberlin lady literally snatched the phone off us and said "no I'm not helping you, I'm busy" and walked off. so we we missed our flight and was stranded for 10 hours at the airport and had to pay for a new flight :-))))))) so i feel raya's pain.

I was newly 17 when the Berlin wall came down. My dad worked for a federal agency and was so happy to see this event. When the Soviet Union collapsed a couple years later, he couldn't believe that had happened in his lifetime.

I lost my bag for a few days once in Tanzania!! Yeah, I can definitely relate. I ended up having to sleep on a cement the floor with nothing but a sweater as a mattress/pillow/blanket. It was also a storage room, so their where little beans sticking into me as I slept. To say the least, it wasn't fun. I hope you get your bag back Raya!!

Last year I went to Tanzania. We waited for for our luggages and they never came, and the airport people told us there was not enough place in the plane to take our luggages (and 7 others) and they had stayed in Amsterdam (we are from Belgium and had made a stop in Amsterdam). They also told us they would came in the next flight and they would deliver it to us. The thing is, we were changing lodge everyday, going from place to place. 3 days later (yeah, 3 days) they finally deliver them.... But not without having a look inside before. The delivery guys had stolen every safari stuff they could find (brand new shirts and shoes) as well as perfume, .. So yeah, I can relate !

Yeah, the Checkpoint Charlie, a famous sight next to the Berlin wall was a US military checkpoint. I think there are still some former US soldiers living across Germany and having exclusive access to american products that we normal german citizens can't have :'D

At first, I thought the same. However, as its gone on, I don't feel like the gap makes much difference. They're clearly very happy - he wouldn't have met her family in Bulgaria if he wasn't serious about the relationship. She's very bold in terms of adventuring with him and having given up her job and moved from New York to be with him - you can do this whilst being girly and feminine, in my opinion:)

Ugh, I know the feeling! Due to 2 delayed flights already, I only had 5 minutes left for my last transfer and they also told me my luggage would definitely get transferred. My luggage got lost for about 20 days after having lived in China for 1 year with all my life basically in there. I had nothing besides my traveling outfit so I had to buy some basics and they didn't even want to reimburse a single thing. Anyway, hope they find your luggage soon!

I think your case may be in Istanbul. When you switched Airlines you should have picked it up and checked it in again. Some airlines will do this for you. My luggage went missing on a direct flight from Greece to the UK, it happens all the time.

I've a little tip for if you Travel with 2 persons or more. Put some clothes in the other bag because if it gets lost you have some clothes.
