Other than the video which obviously would probably not go over well with an admissions board-- her stats of having a 4.0 GPA and a 179 LSAT would pretty much get her accepted into any law school, so that part is actually realistic and also shows from the beginning that she always has been smart. It's also funny how some of the characters still go at her for being dumb as if she isn't at Harvard n the same law program as them. I always liked that as a continuity point-- she doesn't become smart over the course of the movie, she just finds herself/ decides that she actually really is interested in law.

Love the spirit of this movie. She was actually highly intelligent, in her own way, all along. Once she found her stride in law school, she was good to go, lol! Plus, people tried to dismiss her for being a "Fashion Major". Even though she had a 4.0 GPA, and a major in "Fashion Merchandising" would include several classes in business, marketing, economics, etc.

9:18 to be fair, a 179 LSAT score is pretty damn impressive, considering a perfect score is 180. That actually IS the kind of thing Harvard law school looks for. The previous scene where the girls cheered for her wasn't her acceptance. It was getting her LSAT score back.

I was a tomboy growing up, and I had a lot of internalized misogyny about other women, and myself. This movie kind of helped that 😂 I didn’t see it until I was an adult, but I wish I had watched it as a teen. We judge women(and men) for the things they’re into, but assuming someone who really likes makeup must me dumb, or that a blonde girl or guy must be a bimbo, definitely some social conditioning a lot of us who grew up in the 90s and 2000s had to un learn

Same, but it was the pink for me. I hated pink as a kid because I had so much internalised misogyny around it. This movie helped me look at that and start deconstructing that stuff. Now I’m studying to be an engineer and write all my notes in pink and purple, even hand in homework in those colours. I’ve learned that the colour of the pen doesn’t make the calculations more or less valid🙈

perms are just chemical treatments that alter the state of the hair permanently (for the most part). for people with curls, that means straightening and for people with straight hair, that means curling. same treatment, just different methods to achieve opposite results.

The only drawback back in the day was that society caused a few women to feel like they were "lesser than" for not being blonde, which was crazy because they were SO beautiful! 💞 I'm so glad that we are all less objectified nowadays.

I'm a blonde watching! I'm also friendly with the man who won the Tony for the choreography of the Broadway version of this movie, Jerry Mitchell. He's from my hometown! His brother, Rick, was the sports administrator for my high school. Rick's son was a sports legend, but ended up in the baseball minor league. Jerry has been to many of my band and choir performances as well as plays and musicals. He gave me a hug for luck after surprising my choir backstage! Great, humble man!

So, what a perm does depends on your natural hair texture. “Perm” is just short for “permanent.” It’s permanently treating your hair to change the texture. People with straight hair get permanent curls while people with curly hair get it permanently straightened.
