We are all used to paper towels for the kitchen. They are convenient, but you have to buy them again and again. What if you sew yourself reusable ones, it will be economical and you won’t have to spend any more money.
Old sheets, duvet covers, flannel shirts, T-shirts, towels, and so on are suitable for making such napkins. It is the washed fabrics that become soft and absorb moisture well.
Such napkins are convenient because they have two sides: terry and smooth. They are needed for cleaning the house, for example, wiping furniture from dust, wiping a mirror, hands, polishing dishes until they shine; you can also use them instead of potholders. Such textiles are always irreplaceable.
1) First, you need to cut out several identical rectangles or squares from fabric, a size convenient for you.
I made myself 28x28 cm squares. On one side there will be chintz and calico, and on the other there will be terry towels.
2) Connected the two parts with the right sides facing inward. Pinned and stitched on 4 sides, leaving room for turning.
3) Cut off the corners and turn the napkins inside out. I placed a finishing stitch along the edge. I ironed the towels.
4) There is another way to process the edges. To do this, you need to combine the two layers with the wrong sides facing inward and stitch the sides using an overlocker. Insert a piece of thread into the needle and place it in the seam.
5) Rolling towels into a roll is simple; you need to arrange them in a row so that one overlaps the other by 10-15 cm. You can use a sleeve from a used roll of paper towels and screw it onto it.
6) Use a special vertical or horizontal holder as a stand.
7) If desired, the rolled roll can be placed in a beautiful jar.
8) You can also fold towels in the closet; to do this, fold each piece in half or in four.
Despite the fact that many people choose disposable products, reusable natural items are just as in demand as in the old days.
