Well, didn't think this was going to work with a female lead, but thankfully Lesley was up to the task. Pina and Kat added to it nicely. Luther's voice is so distinctive on the original, but it's a credit to the group that versions like this can be successful. "Hustle, hustle" is still my favourite line from it! Great all-round performance. Love from England x

The lady with the jeans and black top is such an amazing dancer, she has so much rhythm and an absolute natural. She never looks awkward as her moves just flow, even the clicking of her fingers is in rhythm, such a joy to watch. I keep playing “you make me feel like dancing” as this lady is awesome. Such a natural.

A thousand "covers bands" have crucified this great song. HSCC gives it the dignity it deserves, by "playing it right" and also bringing a subtle swagger and easiness to the groove that's REALLY good. Lesley's vocal is as good as this song deserves (walking in the tracks of Luther Vandross is not exactly a small task) - zero mucking around and over-singing like so many trainee soul funk vocalists often do. Great phrasing, and beautifully in time and in tune. Yeah Conrad, nice one mate. LOL.

I admit, when I saw this week's song I thought there was no way that HSCc could pull off Luther. I MEAN IT IS LUTHER! They killed it. And they did it in HSCC style: they didn't try to be Luther. They band didn't overplay and the vocalists didn't oversing or overdance. They kept it cool, clean and soulful. That was a masterful cover. You guys keep setting the bar high and then exceed it. WOW! Lesley put her name on that one. Just, wow.

It's true that there will never be another soulful silken-voice-with-a-smile that was Luther's, but HSCC always does such faithful musical renditions of the classics that it's always a joy to see another one of their live covers. A recommendation: as soon as Lesley starts singing at 0:43, I could see - and hear - her doing HSCC's future cover of Lisa Stansfield's massive hit, "All Around the World." She'd be the natural lead vocalist on that!

Ever watch one of the song competition shows, and when the artist says I'm singing Aretha, or Whitney or Luther, you think to yourself, nope. Not going to work kid, pick something a bit more toned down. Well, this is a master class in how to take a very difficult song, create a version that keeps the vibe true to the original, yet makes it their own. HSCC has done it with this masterful performance.
