I personally would have agreed to this comment up until the finale and then the movie. They took what was a morally complex character who had good and bad sides and just butchered her whole story arc by saying "lol actually she bad"

A good thing with the show is that it is all from Steven's point of view, so unless someone else is telling a story, we mostly only see what he does. In the beginning he's still pretty innocent about what is going on, but learns more over time as things happen, so the audience learns the setting along with him.

The soundtrack of season 1 is so great, you shoul get attention to that, the episodes with the best background misic or song for me are: Together breakfast, Tiguer millionaire, Steven Lion 1 and 3, Giant Woman, Roses Room, Coach Steven, Monster Buddies, an indirect Kiss, Mirror Gem and Ocean Gem, Iland Adventure, Fusion Cuisisne, Watermelon Steven, Alone Toguether, The Test, On the Run, Maximum Capacity, Roses Scabbard, Story for Steven, The Message, and Jailbreak. Uf theres a lot, but this show is too 😨good, Ill be watching every reaction 😉

The next few episodes are just fun little stories to set up the world. I'd say the first real episode which introduces us to the main story is Mirror Gem. So I would definitely love to see that.

here's some things that it's not super clear about: Amethyst, Garnet, and Pearl are aliens called gems, and Steven is half gem. each gem has stone somewhere on their body, and except for steven, that's their actual body, with their physical form being made of "solid light", and they can change this form to a certain extent. Additionally, they can combine their forms to "fuse" into a new gem that combines the personalities. Steven, Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl are a team called the crystal gems, and the centipede monster is a "corrupted gem". There's a lot more but *spoilers*

The thing about steven universe is that the first half of season 1 is pretty bad (and a little creepy, we all remember the fry boy episode) and the longest season, but also incredibly needed for you to actually watch the show, cause it makes you fall in love with each character, and has important information in each episode😂😂

Steven Universe takes a long time to present itself...the first dozen or so episodes are basic set up of the characters, it has a major milestone at episodes 25 and 26, and the over-arching plot doesn't begin until episodes 36 and 44. There are some stories that seem light to begin with, but take a dark turn without warning. It's part mystery, part morality play. Also, be aware that SU has one of the more passionate fandoms on the internet.
