BC and D are basically the same bars with similar quality. But I have heard that the B model had some intermittent wireless connection issues with the rear surround speakers. You might want to go for the C.

So my soundbar manufacturer is now in the habit of putting many improvements behind a software update they could probably give me for free, but instead will only give me if I pay another couple grand for those minimal improvements, thus making them now much like my graphics card manufacturer restricting some driver improvements to their latest gen. cards. Apple on the same boat here. I have the Q990C and its 99% the same as the Q990D. "Took them a year" to add full HDMI 2.1, which couldve been added easily to the Q990C.

​@iamthechessmaster unless you're a gamer, you're not missing anything. Besides, you can just plug your console into the TV and have the audio sent to eARC. If you have a PS5, make sure you select audio output to receiver instead of soundbar so you can select dolby atmos as a choice at the bottom of the screen.

20:01 Q990C in the sound check (for me) ! (i listened it using JBL Headphones) The sound is more crystal clear/brighter in the highs ! The Q990D sounds dull in my ears. Q990C is richer. NOTE: That i have my browser configured to pass the sound through a crystalizer filter (configured by me) that i can easily catch the differences in the music. So the Q990C is the winner for me.

The color of the lighter grey works for me as my rear speakers are by a dark grey wall that match pretty well. On a technical note, the audio in your video is odd, it's like it has 2 audio tracks going off from different sources slightly off and it sounds robotic

Thank you for your reviews, you may be the most honest reviewer on yt. I own the 990c, and personally, i think it sucks. Yes, it generally sounds ok, im talking with movies, but most people will be using these for music as well, and in that respect, i dont find it to be any better than an inexpensive Vizio. The thing that completely ruins this thing is the subwoofer. At lower volume it doesn't even exist. Once you get to 12 or more in volume, it seems to switch on, ank kick in. Its as if its governed by the firmware, instead of being allowed to do its thing, and be subwoofer. I akso own the Vizio elevate p514a-h6 5.1.4, and honestly, it has a MUCH better overall sound, and at less than half the price of the Samsung. Anyway, just my 2 cents. I think the 990c is the most over hyped product on yt, it should be in the clearance bin, not the center stage.

It’s not a stellar music machine … but I am not on board that Vizio is better. I might be sympathetic if someone said the Polk max ax sr sounded better. I’ve also gotten really mixed messages about the importance of music. Many people have called me bad names for even talking about these as music machines and others say they use it mostly for music. I own the Q990D and must say I love it. Even though I downgraded in speakers from a 5.1.2 AVR setup, I feel feel like I upgraded in immersion sound. Despite "down sizing". I own a 85" TCL QM8 (2023), so I'm never going to have that Q-symphony feature, but I find space fit and adaptive sound mode work excellent. Regarding your comment about the Dragon system, of course it's going to be better. It costs twice as much with twice the power. Even on sale. I do have a question for anyone cuz I've only had my bar a week now. How is everyone adjusting their channel levels? Any obvious like make heights louders, etc? Also, thanks for mentioning the music frame. Going to try the center middle idea when the price comes down from $400. Maybe prime day. Will the setup work without a Samsung TV? Great video! Very informative!

NOTE: Beach Camera (the seller on Amazon with the deal) just shipped me the 990D vs the C! What are your thoughts on QSymphony TV? I have the q990c and the s95c, and while I see a difference when Symphony is activated, I'm not sure if it's better. The sound is like more expansive, but I feel that I lose some of the Atmos experience and some bass.

I find it’s a better fit sound wise on smaller systems … I wouldn’t necessarily buy a tv for the specific purpose but definitely try it out if you have the opportunity. You’re gonna be the best one to decide whether it’s something you like.

I think it would make a difference but my expectation is that there will be a significant change in 25 … five years after the t and halfway through the decade. Waiting would allow you to find the D for cheaper or choose to get a potential maaaajor step up. My thoughts. Or you can adopt my strategy and buy everything (not recommended)

Excellent review!!! Can you purchase the surroundsound speakers separately for the C or D and use them for 2 front channels?? One huge downside is the hdmi ports, they are on the side of the cut out and you have to bend the hdmi cables in a bad way in order to get the wires to go in the proper place. Samsung should’ve moved the port so the hdmi wires go straight out the back

I’m looking to upgrade my sound bar, I stream everything we watch with the small exception of movies that are downloaded. No physical media. I do play my PS5 on this TV as well. Wired rears aren’t too ideal for my setup. I value bass more than anything I believe. Just every time I’m at someone’s house that has a big bass factor to their set up it is so impressive to me and very movie theatre esque. For the price I’m leaning towards the JBL 1300 after watching a lot of these reviews. If anyone has any advice or recommendations I am very open minded to anybody’s opinion! Thanks!

I've had the Q950A with a QN90A for about 3 years now. I wasn't impressed with the Q-symphony feature at all, but I'm not much of an audiophile either. I think the surround sound in movies is great, but music listening is pretty weak compared to my older, much cheaper Visio sound bar system. I'm strongly considering getting a Nakamichi Dragon after my next TV upgrade.

You missed a point. Your TV has to have a 120hz eArc port. Mine and a lot of other tvs only have 60hz eArc. Make sure of this before chossing D I stead of C. Besides I have little to none sound latency plugging in to my tcl c845 so why the fuss about pass through... But I kinda like the party mode though. 215 dollars extra for a party mode and a little enhanced voice. Might try to downgrade.

I switched from the HW-Q950T to a new 990C (850 euros). A really good exchange BUT what Samsung could really score points with is if they made the whole system modular. Buy the sound bar for say 600 euros / dollar, buy the package with sub and 2 surrounds for 1000 euros / dollar AND THEN you can buy additional surrounds for the sides or front wide. The soundbar works very well but sometimes I wish there was an optional pair for the sides. If the sound bar recognizes that you have added two more speakers, new settings etc. will appear. Yes it would reduce the simplicity of the system somewhat but this would only be optional

just brought the 990d home. First bar. Disappointed in the midrange at low volume. it's just weak treble. The bar shines at louder volumes, but as an australian living in a house without insulation, this isn't the way. I will be taking apart the wireless sub, and interjecting its' internals with the active subwoofer (I have 2) from 'Dream acoustics' mid two thousands. Lots of talk of 8" woofers 'ratlling houses'.... nonsense. These 12" subs have broken my (rental) windows. I like the soundbar, but the q990D subwoofer is a one tone, bang bang, not 25hz, monotone drum. I like the bar and the surrounds, though.

Oh well, my dream of widening soundstage with music frames was smashed to tiny jagged pieces by you and Samsung (you mostly). I doubt 2025 model would see substantial improvement unless Samsung does the smart thing (get it?) and let soundbar handle the frames as two extra speakers as an alternative to a TV trying to juggle both the frames and soundbar at the same time. That would also open possibilities for people who are too poor to purchase the latest Samsung flagship TV to enjoy music frames. But maybe, just maybe Samsung would decide to release a brand new modular soundbar system instead of Q990e iteration and would up it’s game to support more then three wireless components, by allowing at least right and left main channels to be physically separated from the bar and placed where they belong - to the sides of the TV. And yes, upgrading the sub to either dual setup or a bigger woofer. I can dream too.

Hey Daniel! This is a different question, I recently got the Bose 900 sound bar WITHOUT the sub nd the surrounds. I ran the adaptiq. . I turned it on and found out that doing so turns the base way down, although improving the overall sound. Even increasing the base to +70 when adaptiq is ON doesn't really gives the base that I was getting when adaptiq was turned off with just +30 on base. Ran the adaptiq 2-3 times. same result..it's a normal 200 sizet medium sized bedroom. Turning off adaptiq brings backs the base but detoriates the sound. I have read on reddit too that even with sub connected too and running adaptiq just quietens the system and base goes down. I am not a base head

C is fuller … D has more high end detail. It’s what I said in the video. Though I could change a few settings and the d could sound more like the D … but that’s the difference when keeping all the settings the same

What does annoy me about this constant update is if you have a 'B' or a 'C' you will no longer get any updates as they only come out for the new model, so you get about 1 year of support, I have a 'B' 2022 which is practically stone age...

For the soundbar to get audio from any HDMI port it needs to be an ARC port - that transfers information both ways … most computers and monitors do not support this kind of HDMI port. Most likely to get audio on to the soundbar you would need to use optical, line in, or BT

One last question because im trying to get to the bottom of this.If I buy an HDMI extractor, [one hdmi in, two out], would I be able to use them one for the monitor and one for the soundbar? . Im planning on getting the 990c but im struggling finding info on pc compatibility.Nvidia has dolby atmos support through the control panel after you download the atmos app software, so there must be a way to access it.Unless its only via an actual tv.

i have a question, so i have a very old 7 channel denon receiver that does atmos at 5.1.2, should i retire this setup and go with a samsung q990? i never had any problems with it really, its just im moving to a new place and i dont think i have the luxury of hiding all the speaker wires there and all and just want an all round cleaner setup, is it good enough that it can replace such a setup?? thanks! (note: my current setup has 2 speakers physically in the ceiling)

I want to say if that’s what you’re coming from the HTA9 or Quad would be a better substitute … the D is pretty safe but there do seem to be a minority contingency that just don’t like the sound profile. If you can get your ears on it prior to buying, not to get a good idea of surround capabilities, but just the qualities of the sound (too prickly maybe) - there would be a reduced chance of heart ache

I love my Q990C but have not been able to figure out how to get it to work well with my Sony tv. If I pause Netflix (for example), the sound quits working. I have to cycle through the tv inputs (switch hdmi 1 to hdmi 2 and then back to hdmi 1) for it to start working again... Any thoughts? Love your videos!
